Hey everyone, just wondering for those who made room request ahead of time and were successful, what method(s) did you use? I used my TP room requester, and we will be checking into YC this saturday, so i wanted to see if i should try a secondary request somewhere (through reservations or the maybe yc directly for example) as I have heard around 5 days prior to check in is when disney starts trying to “assign” rooms and this is a good time to contact for room requests.

Any insight would be appreciated.

thanks!

I’ve made my room requests in different ways throughout the years. Online, calling it in, touring plans……sometimes I’ve done all 3 ways and sometimes just one way.

What I’ve learned is that there is no one way that is better. If they have your request, they will try to honour it. Some people will say they swear by touring plans and they 100% get what they asked for. Others will say they never get what they want. I’m at around 50%. The truth is it’s all very much hit and miss and a crapshoot. It depends on occupancy, length of stay, room category and your specific request. It’s like a puzzle. Sometimes the pieces fit together perfectly and you get exactly what you want. Sometimes not.

I like touring plans. If you’ve already made your request, I’d say you’re good to go. If you’re unhappy with your assigned room, you can try to switch it once it’s assigned. Good luck! :goodvibes

Thanks. My only concern with my TP room request is i think i may have been to convoluded and i wanted to update it and me precise about my request but now im nervous to change it on TP and have them re-send it as i dont want to be too annoying to the disney people looking at the requests. i may just leave it alone and see what room we get and take it from there, but was curious what other people have done and how successful it was.

If you want to make a change, you should go for it. I wouldn’t worry about being too annoying. If it will make you feel better, just phone it in.

Not to hijack your thread, but is there an email or some other means to make a room request? In the online check in for room requests, it only has "Near Elevator" to select, you can't just type something in. We are staying at Boardwalk Villas if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

The online room request for every hotel used to be better. Now they’re just very vague. I’d skip it altogether. Most people these days are using touring plans or phoning in their requests.

If you booked a BWV cash stay through Disney reservations, you need to call them and have your request added to your reservation. If you have a DVC points reservation, the owner of the points needs to submit the request to Member Services via email, chat or phone.

During our last trip to Disney we made a room request using the online forms on the Disney website and worked fine. I doubt that how you make your request has anything to do with your success rate. Clearly, the more specific your request, the less likely they will be able to accommodate it. I seem to recall other threads where people indicate that only your most current request is what matters. However, none of use actually work at Disney to know exactly how they select your room.

We've always just noted our preferences when we made the reservation or done the on line checkin. Can't say we've ever been disappointed.

If you booked your hotel through TP, can you call the hotel direct to make those requests? I always thought that you had to use the booking agent (TP) to make such requests.

It’s clearly something you’re thinking/worried about so I’d do both right now, then put it out of your mind. :goodvibes

hahah. its really the first time the bed types will cause an issue if we get the wrong one (yc has like 5 different layouts) so thats why im more anxious than usual. what phone number should i call you think, reservations?

Maybe someone else has a better number, but yeah, I just call the main number. I just avoid calling if any new promos are out or tickets for something are on sale. Christmas party tickets go on sale tomorrow for guests with resort stays, So today is probably a good day to call in a request.

Question.......I am not going to be there until Aug. '22. When I made my reservation (3 months ago) through a phone call with a CM, I forgot to mention one request. Is it too soon to call and ask for it to be added to my room, or wait until it gets closer to my date? Staying at CR CL TV

As long as you have a reservation, it’s never too soon. :)
Might as well do it now before you forget.

I was checking back with you, what did you get?

So i ended up with a king only originally which was sort of my request (i had asked for king/daybed) but when i checked in and they told me what it was i asked to find a different king and they got me one with a pull out couch which has been great. Our view is awesome too, can see epcot forever from the balcony. So i guess it was a “success” even though i needed to adjust it. But they did know my request was there cause they mentioned it as they were looking for my room.

I requested a king bed on MDE at YC. Got a text at 2:45pm that the room was ready. It ended up being two beds. We inquired at the front desk if any kings were available. She found one, all was good. However, it’s right next to the elevators and we are now listening to the constant vibration of the elevator shafts. :( housekeeping delivered a box fan to drown out the noise but you can still hear it. Not sure we’ll make it four nights.
