Room request at POR

We're planning an impromptu quick trip for August and have decided on POR. We've stayed there before and love it. Last time we stayed there, we didn't request a room, but wound up in Alligator Bayou in a building REALLY close to the main building, which worked out great for us. I know that that particular bldg is now a "preferred," so greater cost. We don't need the preferred buildings, but I'm just wondering which buildings would be best to request - don't have a preference as to AB or the Mansions. I guess we'd rather be closer to the main building than the pool - when we go to the pool, we can walk.

Any opinions on the best buildings? TIA!

If you like the mansions, you could request either Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace (this one will be closer to bridge to Ol Man Island). What room view do you have booked? Friends on the POR thread will be able to give you more suggestions- http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2904701.

The closest building to the main building that is not a preferred building would be AB 16. AB 17 is not too far either.

I agree with PP, building 16 &17 are both real close. That where we stayed in October 2010 and that's where we are hoping to stay august 19-26

We're going in August too and have requested Magnolia Terrace. We've been to POR 6 times and always stayed in Magnolia Terrace. We find it an easy walk to the food court and we prefer the mansions to AB.

Thanks everyone! POR is our favorite mod, so we're looking forward to the short trip. Next year's trip is longer and will be at the Poly again! Love both resorts for different reasons!
