We have a 2-bedroom BWV booked. Just wondering if there is anything anyone would recommend in terms of requests - is one end of the boardwalk preferable to the other? Is the middle section best? Is one floor better than another? I realize of course that requests are simply that - requests, and there's no guarantee. But if there is a preferable location, I figure it can't hurt to at least ask!

Do you have boardwalk view reserved? Most of the 2 bedrooms are at the far end, above Big River and next to Jellyrolls. I always request top floor, the lower floors can be noisy at night with people on the boardwalk.

Looks like the rehab construction will be done by then. Right now the outside of the building on the Boardwalk side is covered with scaffolding. :scared1:

Okay, this is the only time I am going to admit this... but, the long hallway thing really matters for some people.
If you are young and healthy, never mind.:yay:
If you are middle aged, but strong, never mind. :woohoo:
If you are older and renting a scooter, never mind. ;)
But... if you are just admitting to getting older, just getting tired, or someone who is not ready to get a scooter but really hurts from walking too far, then... request a room as near to the elevator as you can get.

sorry, I should have said...yes, we have a boardwalk view. Good point about the lower floors - thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2

I'm hoping the scaffolding is down by January!

I have read lots about the long hallway, but we are still fairly active, and I think if we can walk in the parks for 10 hours, then another 4 minutes down a hallway shouldn't kill us! Is there a staircase at the far end of the hall, away from the elevators? I would have to think there is for a fire exit - in which case, would that put us 4 minutes closer to HS?!

Yes, there are several stairways in the hallways. There's one at the far end that comes out behind Jellyrolls in front of the canal, we've used it when we are at the far end. There's also one at the other end that comes out by the bus stop or you can take another door out to the quiet pool to get to DHS.

Lower floors have the advantage of being a lot more convienent if you want to take the stairs to get to the pool or avoid the long walk from the elevator. Higher floors have less BW noise (although, in my opinion, not that much less - the doors are pretty good, but we've heard the Boardwalk buzz from the top floor and the bottom with the doors closed.) Higher floors tend to have better views of Illuminations.

Closer to the elevator is more convienent if you have strollers and young kids or anyone who doesn't want to take stairs. Farther from the elevator again tends to have better fireworks views.

Convienence - low floor close to elevator. View - high floor far from elevator.

Hi,
We just returned from the BW and had the most fantastic room, 2037. It was a studio but a lock off so I am assuming 2039 was the 1 bedroom portion. I was disappointed at first to get 2nd floor, but they were totally booked. The room was beautiful, renovated with a huge balcony. It was as wide as the room and at least 12 feet from the slider to the end of the balcony. The wall was solid with a half moon opening and a ledge 18-24 inches wide, just above the Threads and Thimble sign. It pretty much gave as an extra room! The noise was minimal and totally quiet with the door closed. Great people watching.

Hi all!
Looking for a little help myself. Also going in January, but we have a @ BR minus the Boardwalk view :sad2: On the upside, we booked a Preferred view, not standard, so I hope we don't get parking lot (or scaffolding :scared1:)! Any suggestions for a room request with an agreeable view? We are all able to walk and do stairs, so that's not an issue. As for noise, my 3 sons and SO's are all in their early 20's, so I expect they may actually be the ones making some of the noise!!:lmao: But not too much or I would have a problem myself. I would like to know if there are any 2 BR's which could still have a view of Illuminations (other than going outside that is!) :lmao: Thanks for any help.

None of the preferred pool/garden rooms have an Illuminations view. They either face the main pool, quiet pool or the canal & Swan. The rooms with scaffolding would not be occupied. The renovations are supposed to be done by sometime in January.

When we were there in 2007, we had two preferred-view studios that overlooked the Village Green. We had partial illumination view. Not the greatest, but then it was just a little extra bonus, as we were not expecting it at all. We also had the largest balconies I've ever seen -

Our rooms were right above the arches - second and third from the right. We could also see some of the Boardwalk and lake from these balconies. Not sure though if there are any 1-bedrooms facing the Village Green.

You're right, there are studios facing the Village Green that might have a partial Illuminations view. But there are no 1 or 2 bedrooms.

We were at bvw last week. Scaffolding is now down (took it down just before Halloween) on the Villlage Green side. We were in a standard view 2BR and we could hear construction noise coming from the 4th floor. In fact, there's a door on the 4th floor preventing guests from going down the corridor. We were in room 3083.
