For those that has not gotten the Disney Files yet.

" Disney Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa: There's an extra dose of "Disney" in the new look coming to villas at Disney's Saratoga Resort & Spa. Crews are beginning to install new drapes, carpets, upholstery, accessories and more in vacation homes throughout the resort as this magazine mails, with work scheduled for completion by spring 2013. Among the Disney Files Magazine staff's favorite new elements are those celebrating Disney's connection to the equestrian world, from bedspread patterns depicting horses in a forest inhabited by characters from the the Fox and the Hound to throw pillows honoring scene-stealing horses from Disney animated films. Look for more details in the summer edition of Disney Files magazine."

I hope this looks better than it sounds. I love SSR the way it is, understated elegance. Do we have to be surrounded all the time by Disney characters. I know many will love it, but I just have a feeling it is going to look cheesy.

I understand the concern, but I think SSR can use more of a Disney touch. When we've stayed there I didn't feel like we were on property.

I agree with you, Sammie. Too much cartoon stuff = Value resort to me. Where were the cartoon characters in the OKW and BWV renovations? I don't see them in AKV or BLT or even Aulani.

You have plenty of Disney buses, Disney merchandise for sale in the store, CMs in costume, etc to make it Disney enough.

I agree. I didn't feel 'Disney' when staying at SSR.

It can be done right. I like the hidden Disney touches and missed them at SSR. BWV rooms have carpeting with hidden Mickeys in it, it's part of the pattern on the carpet, Mickeys hidden on the carpets in the hallways, etc--including having Mickey riding the roller coaster on those carpets. Our AKV Kidani studio had sheer lacey type curtains that were actually characters from the Lion King--it was not noticeable, except to my dd11. If they do SSR in the same vein, it will stay elegant, but add that missing Disney touch.

I was excited to see it in Disney Files. I hope it's subtle, like at AKV. Don't know if I'm crazy about the pictures on the pillows they have in the magazine, but I'll withhold judgement until I see a refurbished villa.

I'm thinking it may be along the lines of GC/VGC which has Disney characters but is also very subtle and beautifully done. I'm not worried at all, and that's after having been very scarred by the room decor at the CR during the late 90's early 2000's! And why do flowers have to have such a monopoly in theme? I say go foxes, hounds and horses! ;)

. . . . . . I didn't feel 'Disney' when staying at SSR.

Keep looking. SSR has lots of Hidden Mickeys.

We have always appreciated getting away from the feeling that we were being "hit over the head" with Disney and the crowds. One of the advantages of SSR is finding that respite from all of the hub-bub and intense theming. ONE resort without the outward cartoon theme doesn't hurt.

Count me in with you and Sammie. I'm going to have to go dig the Disney Files out of the recycle bin and take a look.

The horse pillows were kinda weird looking. I could see them in a kids bedroom but not on a sofa.

Like I said I hope it is better than it sounds, but there are lots of hidden Mickey's at SSR, they are just not obvious. And I agree the bedding at other resorts stays with the theme without having animated characters in them.

I just hope its not going to look like All Star Movies.

Oh gawd, I hope it doesn't end up looking like Girl Scout camp with horse head pillows. :scared: I still haven't got my Disney Files. :sad1:

They were square with the horse from Beauty and the Beast and Tangled printed on them. The face was all that was shown but is as large as the pillow. They look like the prints in the kids area of the lounge where the TV is.

Maybe they will only be on one side and I can turn them over, :rotfl2:

They kinda look like this, but with a animated horse.

Now if they had one of the real horses from Disney movies in photos/sketches, that might be nice. Like Dreamer and Secretariat. But not the cartoon horses, please. Not them.

I was really hoping since they were going to replace the bedspreads, SSR was getting something similar to BLT and Aulani a duvet, but obviously not. :confused3

The horse heads are freaky....I will need to hide them like the dolls with creepy eyes. My daughter wouldn't like those. :scared1:

Lots? I know some floors have railings with hidden Mickeys, (and I keep thinking I'd like to do that at home some day ;) ) But the last time I was in a 1BR the only hidden Mickey we saw in our room was the brackets under the (eating) bar. (And that was day 3 when I was sitting on the couch to see that). It shouldn't be that hard.

I suppose I would complain less if outside felt more like the great turn of the century Saratoga photos they have in the rooms. Instead its more of a spread-out modern, suburban golf course community, which is lovely, but doesn't "transport" me somewhere else like most of Disney.
