Could someone please make a recommendation for a room request at the Villas at DWL? We will be staying there the first week in July. I realize this would only be a request, and not a guarantee on the room we would get.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I assume you mean VWL and not DWL. The regular rooms at DWL can't be used with points.

Also, I recommend not requesting specific rooms at any DVC resort. If that room is unavailable, the person who gives you your room won't have any idea why you requested it, and may give you a room that does not meet your needs.

List general requests, like "near elevator" or "2nd floor" so they know what you're actually requesting.

"Dumpster View" is always a popular request. :)

Seriously, most of the views are just fine. I think you'll do just fine without a view request.

Thank you for all your responses. I will go with the luck of the draw and be thankful even is I do get the lovely dumpster view.

Thank you

Most all views are woods views. A few have pool or "partial lake view through the trees".

Last December we stayed in room 5556. Sitting on the balcony was a wonderful view of the trees. Once I stood up I had a wonderful view of the .....Dumpster!!

Here's a visual on what people were talking about:

Now, this picture was taken before the hurricanes of a couple of years ago, and the trees have thinned out considerably. But still, VWL (red roof) is primarily surrounded by trees as befitting its theming.

You can also see the maintenance area "dumpster view" at the lower left end of VWL.

Because so many of the views at VWL are similar, I'd focus on smoking/non-smoking first as a choice. After that, you can request a general area to have best chance of getting your request matched. Good luck and enjoy this lovely resort! :)

Granny,

Thank you for sharing that lovely photo of the resort. That answers all my questions.

Thank you.

I requested a Lake View, which we got. I found that the folks on the other side of the hallway had the Dumpster View.

If you're staying on the lake side and you're in a studio, remember there is one studio (4533) that is a lock off that has NO balcony. So if you hear that room number at check-in and you're staying in a studio, I would ask for another room. I wouldn't mind it if we had a two bedroom since the living room has a balcony, but I wouldn't like it at all for a studio only.

Where are the smoking rooms??

We are going in Feb. I don't need to focus on the best room but it is good to know the few that would be good to avoid if possible.

Lisa...I don't know exactly which are the smoking rooms, but we have never had a problem getting a non-smoking room at VWL (or any DVC for that matter). I would think in February you should be in pretty good shape to get non-smoking request filled.

Do you arrive late in the day or evening? That lessens you chances a bit, but honestly I don't think you'll have a problem.

Enjoy your trip...coming up soon! :)

littlestar...I was looking for that room during our recent stay, and couldn't figure out which one it is. Then I just looked on InstImpres' room map in Lisa's post and there doesn't appear to be a room 4533 unless the map is wrong.

I believe that there is a room 4533 with no balcony, it just doesn't show up on that resort layout.

Just a curiosity more than anything else. I'm not sure why I couldn't see the room in question from the outside, though I didn't know the number or general location at the time. Gives me something to look for next time!
