I might be taking a short trip in Feb and will book through AAA - if my trip starts say Feb 11th and doesnt end until Feb 16th, well going by this yr, the value season ended on Feb 14th and peak season kicked in on Feb 15th. Would I be charged value season for my entire trip, or value season and peak season rates?

It will be booked as two seperate bookings. You will actually have to give seperate deposits for each and go down to the frontdesk and check-out and check back in again. We did that a couple of years ago.

You are charged the rate in effect on the day you check in for your entire stay ~ So, check in during Value and have that rate for all nights! :) It's great!! We've done it many times, including our stay last December - checked in the last day of Value & paid that rate instead of Holiday!

That's for booking through CRO ~ I'm not sure if it is different for AAA.

Is that a new thing? When we stayed at the GL in Oct. '04 it definately had to be two seperate bookings.

As long as it is one continuous reservation (not a split stay between resorts or a change in room type - standard to water view, concierge to non-concierge, etc) and you pay a single deposit, you are charged the rate in effect at check-in. Works in your favor if you go from value to regular, but can also work in Disney's favor if you start in a higher season. Then it pays to make two separate ressies and check-out and check-in again.

In February 2003 we checked in a day earlier just to get the value rate for our entire 8 night stay. :)

Not a new thing. We went to YC in February 2004 and only had to make one reservation. Our check in date was the last day of value season and we got the value season rate for the entire duration of the trip.

Maybe you went from a more expensive season to a cheaper soon in which case you would be charged the more expensive rate for your whole stay. I've never heard of Disney making people have two reservations becuase of the seasons change. I know it happens a lot because people don't want to pay the higher rate for their entire stay, but it's not required.

Disney making people have two reservations with be a nightmare for them especially with packages and dining plans.

YES!!! that is what happened - the price went DOWN while we were there and I didn't want to pay the higher price for our entire stay.

Sorry!

If you want to take advantage of the lower rates then you would need to have separate bookings. You are charged the rate that is in effect the day you check in.

Disney handles separate bookings quite well. If you are on a package with dining it may be more expensive to split up the trip since you have to buy at least a one day ticket.

Thanks for the responses. I've decided to just go the first week of Feb, where everyday of our trip is value season. But now I know in the future if my trip happens to run into a different season where its gonna be more expensive then my checkin rate, I dont have to worry about anything. I would never book a trip where its expensive at the beginning and then gets cheaper at the end. Sounds to much of a hassle. Not that it really matters much, cuz we always go during value season or at least our checkin dates are always value season ;)

We are going Nov 24-Dec 1. November 24 is holiday season and then it drops to value. Our reservation for CR for 4 people with dining and park tickets was going to be $1,000 MORE because of November 24 being peak, as we would then pay that higher rate for the entire trip! So, I booked us room only at Pop for the night of the 24th and move to CR the next day.

If you do one resie. your entire stay is charged in the season that you check in. If you're doing a room only, I'd book threw Disney with AAA rate.
I go in Dec 30-Jan 5. I almost booked my first trip all at the holiday rate. Then it occured to me to rebook the lower season and get a cheaper rate, but if I started my stay in Value I'd want to stay in value.
