Room rates/Resort Recommendation

Hi there:
I belong to DVC so all of my Orlando trips have been to Disney. Would like to try 3 nights at Universal in May before our trip to Disney. Just wondering what the previous Entertainment book room discounts have been?? Also are the discounts available for all 3 Universal resorts? Finally which resort would you recommend?

The Entertainment rates vary and are not always available. A couple years ago you could stay at RPR for $99. Not anymore. The rates seem to be going up. They are available for all three US resorts. As far as which resort is best for you, we will need to know more about what you like and what you are looking for in your resort.
HRH is the closest to the parks and the easiest walk. RPR is not a bad walk either. There are also water taxis and a bus. PBH is a longer walk and not what I would want to do when being on my feet all day at the parks. The water taxi ride is very nice though. The PBH is the most quiet resort. HRH is more upbeat. RPR had an island feeling.

The best available rate that I have been able to get for may o5 is 179.20 plus tax per night. This is the AAA rate.

I do expect the rates to go down when fan, entertainment, and annual pass rate become available. If this year is any indication on when the rates will be available , it looks like the decent rates will not be available till early february. Mostly at that time the only rate I was able to get was entertainment rate. As my dates got closer, I continued to call and check on rates. Then about three weeks before I was to leave the rates started to change significantly. I was eventually able to get the annual pass rate for all my dates. At a rate of 119 an night plus tax I believe it was.

If you want to be assured that a room will be available for you then your only option is to book now with the current rate or AAA rate. Then continue to call back to see if any other rates become available for your dates.

You might want to ask the reservationist while you have them on the phone if there will be any conventions going on during your planned stay. Sometimes those pesky conventions can throw a monkey rench into things. By causing unavailablity for certain days. It has happened to me many times particurally in the last week of may. I am already experiencing difficulty getting the AAA rate for may 22, 05.
