we are planning a family gathering and we are going to hopefully setup the rooms using our points, my question is we would like some studio and some 1 bedrooms for privaicy, can we get these with a door between them so people can move betwen the rooms in the day time but come and go at night without entering each others rooms? are these the lock out room I have hear some talking about. do we have to request them? and if you are having a gathering can you get the rooms in the same building we will be gathering at SSR? we don't want a GV. so do we call and tell them at SSR or ms that this is a family gathering event?

I reserved a 2 bedroom for my sis, her hubby, my husband and myself. It's not a dedicated, but a 2 bedroom. The reason I did it was the MS gal said it was less points than the dedicated 2 bedroom and we could all have our privacy, like you want.
I believe one thing you will forego is the larger main deck that you get with the dedicated.

There is no difference in point costs between a dedicated 2-B/R unit and a 2-B/R lock-off unit.

The lock-off means there are two doors back to back between the LR section of the 1-B/R part that goes to the 2nd B/R, which is actually a Studio since it has the kitchenette. Both then have outside doors.

A dedicated 2-B/R would not have an outside door nor does it have the kitchenette. It has more closet space instead.

A Lock-off 2-B/R villa will be fewer points than a 1-B/R villa and a Studio, reserved separately.

Yes you can reserve a lock-off 2-B/R villa which appears to be best for what you want.

If you get lock-off 2-B/R units, then each 1-B/R and accompanying 2nd B/R (Studio) will be connected. If you're going to get more than one there will not be any guarantees that they will be in the same building, but the probability is high they can do that, all depending on your check-in dates and what villas are becoming vacant on that date. Room accommodations are assigned on a first come first serve basis and are no longer pre-assigned by reservation. If you're going to check-in all rooms at the same time, then they can search the entire resort and probably can meet your requests for the same building.
