Do many of you ever go to WDW using your DVC points and just stay at the resort? (not go into the parks?)

We go to Disney several times a year but generally only during one stay will we do the theme parks. The theme parks are great fun but they are not only expensive but also exausting.

We sometimes do the pool and then go to a movie. We bring or rent videos and order pizza. In the Summer we may indulge in a water park, much cheaper than the theme parks. Try just doing one park instead of them all, pick a favorite!

It's nice to escape the daily grind and spend family time together relaxing. Some of our best times using DVC resorts have been without going to the parks!

It's been over six years since we've been to the parks.

Go to OKW 2 - 3 times a year, though.

Wow OlderMan! You have us beat by a mile! We are out of 7 days, 2 days parks.

Wow! I don't think I could stay away that long, even though I think OKW is a vacation in itself :cloud9:

OP, we haven't done that yet, but we plan to go park free during one trip next year. We'll see if that plan holds out;)

I have never been able to make myself do that. I just love the parks too much! We are doing couple of non-park days next month, but we plan to be taking in the sights and safaris of AKV then!

Diane,

You met my girls last November when we had the "meet" at WL.

If you remember, they were VERY interested in going outside and looking for/at the ducks and any other wildlife they could find--didn't see any aligators, though!

They actually prefer Seaworld to WDW. In fact, one of them asked just this week, "When are we going back to Seaworld?"

When we're at OKW, they like the pool(s), games at Community Hall, renting DVD's, grilling dinner at one of the "quiet" pools, etc.

Since we live close to Orlando, the girls do have occasional, school-related trips to Seaworld, Disney, etc. Actually, they both have been to Seaworld and Epcot since DW and I have.

It's just what works for us!

PS Enjoy your upcoming trip!!!!!!

DH and I did this in May. We stayed at SSR for 4 nights and just relaxed at the resort. We are looking to do this again in October or November.

I could go and not visit the parks, although I do enjoy them. It wouldn't be much different than our trips to VB or HH, I would enjoy the resort, relax, go golfing, do other activities, etc.

However, my wife is too insane about them not to go. Even if she said she wasn't going to go to the parks, like a crack addict she would slip out when nobody was looking and sneak out to the MK. I swear she almost pees herself every time we approach the MK gates.

We seem to be doing most of our trips to VB, so yes, we do trips without the parks and enjoy them! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: This is too funny. Last summer our trip was to VB for a week, but we did a little one night side trip to WDW to have dinner at Jiko. Well, I got up early the next morning (DH is a late sleeper) and took the boat over to MGM, and hung out for about an hour or so. Needed that fix, man! Had we stayed at VB for the entire time, the thought would have never entered my head. But, being so close to the park (and having not been there in a long time) I couldn't resist!

OMG No, I don't think I could ever do that. I don't think my kids would allow me to do that:rotfl: Now my DH on the other hand would Love to do that.

we go several times a year (4 to 5) and generally only go to one park once a year my kids are fine with that as they love to go the pool, movies, shopping, etc. it so relaxing to get up and lay by the pool reading and just hanging out you will love that you don't have to mess with the crowds you can also get the character fix by going to a character dinner or breakfast enjoy!

I find that we look forward to just relax vacations at WDW resorts as much as we like our theme park visits. It is fun to really enjoy the resorts and when we do that we usuually use our points at a Deluxe resort with a DVC and when we are there for the big two week vacation with themem parks we usually stay at OKW, though i could see myself staying at OKW easily for a few weeks and just enjoying the laid back relaxation.
