Room only Vs. Package deal

I realize that a package deal makes it easier to get everything at once, but is there a financial advantage?
For example, if I can get 7 days at the WL for lets say 1600.00 and then buy 4 7 day park hopper passes for 750.00. (I realize that these figures aren't correct, but are just an example). Is it any cheaper to get these same things all at once in a package deal? (I don't plan on using the Dining plan either way).
One of the reasons I ask is that it seems the room only way gives you a little more flexibility in changing or canceling if necessary.

As a P.S. Does Disney hold aside rooms exclusively for the packages, that you couldn't book with room only?

Again, thank you ahead of time for any responses.

If you want to purchase the DP (dining plan), you must purchase a package.

Unless you book thru a AAA agent or a special sale code, etc; you'll pay rack rate plus the price of whatever MYW tix you purchase.

BTW, all people registered on the ressie need to be on the same pkg.

pkgs & room only have different cancellation polices.

have fun planning your trip.

I've been thinking the same thing. I always book AAA package and then when a code comes out they will apply it to my package. Some years it was a big saving, last year the saving was upgraded tickets, pay for base tickets and get hopper and water parks free. Not a great deal for January.

I've been thinking about room only with AAA discount, 7 nights at WL for about 1400.00, tickets for about 760.00. (base with hopping) for 3 people. The only thing is will I be able to get additional discount with a code for room when I have AAA discount. With the package through AAA I could do that, so I guess it's a gamble.

Last year I booked my own air, $98.00 rt from pittsburgh with Airtran. This year so far it is $160.00.

Such decisions!!! Any opinions?
