I have a room only reservation but i was wondering can i call and add park tickets to that reservation now before we go rather than when we get there? If i can add them on can i pay for them and pay on my room stay too?? :)

You can call and add tickets. You also can look at places on the web and buy tickets separately and save a few dollars on the tickets. Go to mousesavers.com and look there for suggestions about ticket sellers. Also you can call at any time and make a payment on your reservation. I think you must pay at least 20 dollars, but can pay any amount you want above that.

You can add tickets to a room only but then that makes it a package and will need to be paid in full 45 days out. Thinking about it they may cancel your room only and rebook as a package.

You would be buying tickets, not adding them to a room only. (As another poster stated that would be creating a WDTC MYW package.)
It just depends on if you wish to buy your tickets in advance.

Untrue.

Adding park tickets to your room-only reservation DOES NOT automatically turn it into a package. Been there, done that. Fact, not my opinion.

You can do it from the get-go. You can call up, make a room-only reservation, and buy tickets as part of that reservation.

What's the difference between booking a package and booking room-only + tickets? No difference in reality, just a difference in what they call it. A package has a few tiny perks, but has more restrictive payment terms.

Like I said, adding tickets to a room-only reservation DOES NOT make it package.

Question : If you add tickets to a room only reservation .. is it not the case that you must pay for the tickets in full at the time of placing the order? I had one CM tell me that on the phone recently but I didn't have time to find out if that was really true.

I've booked room-only twice. Only once did I take the trip, the other time I had to cancel. But both experiences were identical. I did NOT have to pay for the tickets up-front. The same payment terms applied as for any other room-only reservation.

And by the way, the nly way I figured all this out was the first time I booked a room-only reservation. I did it by phone, I thought we were just about done, and then the CM asks me if I want park tickets. I told her I planned on buying them separately (but still through Disney). She told me I could add them to the reservation. I said something like, "But I don't want to book a package," and she told me it wouldn't make it a package ... and she was right! I still made a deposit of one night's room + tax (which was less than the $200 package deposit, being that I was staying at a Moderate during "regular" season) and still didn't have to pay the balance until I arrived to check in.

When I requested to do it the same way the next time (for the trip I ultimately had to cancel), the CM booked it that way and didn't even blink ... well, I couldn't see her, but it sure sounded like she didn't even blink.:rotfl:

[My most recent experience was during this past summer, so I don't know if anything has changed since then ....]

This is what we had originally done before we canceled our previous reservation. We booked a room-only and added park tickets separately. The room-only was never converted to a package as they would have to cancel the room-only and then book a separate MYW package with room and tickets. This would necessitate the need to pay the package 45 days out; I did not have to pay the room-only ressie in full until i arrived. I have since canceled that reservation due to switching resorts and now have a MYW package w/park hoppers that we purchased as an all-inclusive package. That ressie will also change when a code or PIN comes up and we upgrade, but until then we're happy with what we've got. Can't wait for MVMCP 2008. Lets hope it's not as crowded as last year.:rolleyes1

If I book a room only then added tickets later--paying when I arrive..
do I then give up the dining options doing it this way?

Can't happen like that. The Disney Dining Plan, whether free or paid-for, is available only as part of a package. It is 100% impossible to have the Disney Dining Plan with a room-only reservation.

If you aren't talking about the DDP and are just talking about ADRs you made for table-service meals, then that won't make any difference. ADRs are completely separate from resort reservations. ADRs aren't connected in any way, whether it's a package of room-only.
