Room only reservation question

I am trying to book a room only reservation for now and am going to add the tickets/dining later. They don't have a room only reservation for the date/room I want. However if I add an extra day onto the reservation they have the room/resort I want. My question is: if I book the longer stay, can I call in later and cancel the extra day and still keep the same room?

Maybe. Recently Disney has made it almost impossible to do just that. What would probably happen is you being told the room isn't available for the shorter time frame. Disney no longer shortens reservations, they cancel and re-book.

If it's not available as a new booking for the shorter stay, they won't modify.
