I'm hoping that some of you experienced reservation makers out there can help me....

I want to book a trip in Oct. with the Silver plan package at a moderate resort. The first night we arrive will likely be late, as in maybe after 8pm or so. I think it would be silly to pay the "package" part of the deal for that one night when we would not even be using the park hopper or any wishes that first late night.

Is there a way to book "room only" for that first night, and the silver plan package for the rest of our stay, but check in ONE time and not have to change rooms?
Can WDTC or CRO do this for me when I call them?

Hope I'm making sense

You can definitely book room only for the first night and a package for the remainder. But you will have to go to the front desk and check-in again on the second day.

There is no way to avoid it. Each reservation is a separate thing. Your room key/resort ID is keyed to only one reservation.

Just tell the CM who books your reservations to make sure it gets marked as "continuing reservations". That way the chances are slim (but not zero) that you would have to change rooms the second day.

It would also be of benefit to fax or call the resort four days prior to arrival to be sure they know that you have the continuing reservations and wish to remain in the same room for both.

When you make your reservation tell the cm or your travel agent what you want to do, they will make it all one reservation and you will have one confirmation number and one deposit to pay.

When you check in the first time mention it. You will most likely have to go down and check out and recheck in but mostly it's on paper only.

We have done this before and are doing it again in December. I had a friend who had 3 reservations spanning in one trip and they never had to change rooms.

Perhaps this is true if you go through a TA where they will give the client a single confirmation number (their agency's, not Disney's) and charge a single deposit that covers both reservations, but there is no way you can go through Disney and have it as a single reservation on the same confirmation number with one deposit. Disney's computers will only allow one rate per reservation. That's the whole reason why you have to check in again at the beginning of a new reservation...because you can't do it as one reservation. If there was a way to do this, it would be suggested all over these boards every time this comes up which is quite often. And remember that this board has many Dreams Unlimited agents reading it who would be telling you how to do it. But it doesn't happen because there is no way around it.

That's why you tell them you have continuing reservations. It alerts the room assigner that you have another reservation(s) immediately following the first one. They will then block you into the same room for all reservations.

I agree it doesn't hurt to mention it again at initial check in but definitely do not wait until then to let them know for the first time. Have the CM note it when you make the reservations and call/fax the resort four days before to verify. There is no such thing as overkill in following up on this.

You can also do room only on your last night. Sometimes it makes sense to do this if you are checking out early in the morning. I asked CRO about booking a platinum plan today and they said they could do 1st and last night as room only and the rest with the plan and it would all be one reservation, one deposit.

Just remember if you do your last night as a room only you will not be able to enter the parks the next day and you also will not have package extras for that day or the day before. If you have unused feature you may use them the day of your last night but you won't have a new full day's set since they are based on how many nights you stay on the plan. Just don't want anyone to get confused and end up with nothing the day before they leave.

honeymo78,

I guess I am a little confused now. If you stay 7 nights, how many days do you get the food, etc.?

Do you get all the benefits of the package for the entire day you check in and the entire day you check out if you book it for all the nights?

If you make your last night room only then when do your meals end?

We stayed 2 nights before our Silver Plan started in early Feb. We had 2 separate reservations. The wishes were only valid for the nights you did the plan; for example we stayed 9 nights, however only 7 were on the plan so we had 28 wishes total (14 a piece). We booked through a travel agent and had 2 vouchers, one for the first 2 nights, 1 for the Plan at check-in. All were for a King room.

This is kind of confusing to explain, but it might help someone... We checked in 2/4, the package started 2/6, and our wedding day was 2/6. We had asked to stay in the same room - no way I wanted to switch rooms when Disney cosmetology was coming at 9 am and the wedding was at noon! At check-in the CM took our vouchers, got us our keys and room number, and told us that we couldn't stay in the same room, our first 2 nights were for a standard room. Brief bridal panic attack, then I asked if I could see the vouchers that she had taken where it clearly said "king bed" on both. So if something doesn't sound right, be persistent! We had to wait about 20 min. but we got the same room the whole trip:-) I'd also wanted to go to the front desk at midnight of 2/6 to switch to the package, but their computers aren't switched over until 7 am. Hope this helps someone!

With the Silver package you get wishes and you get 2 per day per person and you can use them when you want and how you want.

On the Gold and Platinum plans your wishes start on the morning your plan starts and ends at midnight of the day you check out (or last day you are on the plan)

Yes you can, I have done many times (through Disney). The one catch is that you can only do it this way through Disney travel company. You cannot do it this way if you make a room reservation through CRO and then the package through the travel co.
