OK, I think I might have actually figured it out from reading through some posts, but I want to make sure I really do "get" it.
1. For free dining, no other discounts can be used (you must pay rack rate for your room).
2. If you book using a room only code, you can NOT add the Disney Dining plan? This is the one I'm unsure about - I've been under the impression that DDP was only for guests booked on a package.
3. However, you could book a package through AAA and get the AAA discount for the room AND still get the dining plan (assuming it is not free dining)? This may end up saving some money, but maybe not a lot.
In my perfect world I would be able to book a room using a discount and then add the dining plan to the room (we don't really need tickets as DBIL is a CM - we COULD use his discount for a room too but I don't like bugging him about it too much and there are limited rooms and blackout dates for him).
Anywhere I'm absolutely wrong? Any other clarifications I might find helpful? TIA!
