Hi everyone,

TLDR: Do I need to check into our second resort before we can enter a park?

In October we are staying one night at Pop and then the rest of our stay at CSR. Yes I know it's a bit odd doing this, we decided to upgrade to CSR after our initial booking and Pop is a resort we have been to so easy for us after a long flight.

Anyway.. I'm wondering if I will be able to go from Pop to MK for the day with our bags etc in our hire car and not check into CSR until later in the day. Would our park tickets that are linked (Magic my way I want to say) to the CSR booking work? I'm 99% sure that it will but I don't want to be darting around the whole of WDW on our first morning!

Thanks!

Tom

Couple things:

No you won't have to check in at CSR before being able to enter MK.
Depending on when you go in October, be careful leaving all you stuff in the car. The Florida heat will wreak havoc with makeup, and other toiletries.
You will not be going out of your way at all to swing by CSR on your way to MK.
You can check in at CSR as early as 6:00AM.
If you drive to MK you will have to park at the Ticket and Transportation Center, take a tram to the front then boat or monorail to MK.
If you check in at CSR you can leave your bags with Bell Services, hop on a bus and be dropped off right in front of the MK gate.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I didn't put too much thought into that, but it's a good point, I quite like your idea of dropping off the big bags on route.

I can get up at 6:00am, my wife on the other hand seems incapable of getting up early despite the extra 5 hours she would have gained due to timezone changes :D

I have done disney both with and without a car. It's always a bit of a pain going to MK but I would MUCH rather go via car than the nightmare that was waiting an hour and a half for a bus to Pop (there were plenty of busses but millions of people).

I think going to CSR first then MK is a great suggestion and probably the way we will go.

I do split stays just about every trip now and drive down so always have my car. My routine on move day. Get up at usual time, which for me is about 6 am. Go walk/jog around resort and do a short yoga cool down in some isolated spot. Grab a cup of coffee in room (I stay in moderates the first leg of my trip) and shower, pack up and load car. Go to front desk or call and check out. Since I drive, I'm able to pack two bags a small one for that one or two nights then another one for the rest of the trip. Drive over to resort #2, this is normally around 7:30. Check in, my room is rarely ready, head over to whatever park I want to go to that day via WDW transportation. My second resort is always either a Disney Epcot deluxe resort or the Dolphin/Swan. If it's Dolphin/Swan I take my bags from my car and leave them with bell services. If it's BW or BC/YC I normally leave my bags in my car and just get them when I go back to my room. I don't take makeup on vacation and don't have food in my car that will spoil so leaving them in the car doesn't matter. I find it easier to get them from the car than from BS, don't know why just my preference. If I'm staying at a MK resort or AK, I normally leave them with BS.

You will have to check out of the first resort before you can check into the second one. If you bought the dining plan on the second resort, you'll need to check in to use it.

When we do split stays, we always go to second resort early, and leave bags with Bell services. I think you may find CSR bus stop may not be as bad as Pop. And the waits for monorail or boat may be horrible too. When we stayed at POR one time we had a rental for a few days and drove to MK. I found it was more of a hassle then taking the bus.
But that's me. I prefer to let Disney o the driving.

Hmm.. are you sure about that :D? Max occupancy is 14,088 with a toddler in every room
