:cool1:1st time on a cruise, and i want to be happy with the placement of our stateroom. i'm thinking of Deluxe ocean view, Cat. 9B on deck 2, for the june 3rd, 2011. the room, #2050. it's in the middle of the ship, less chance of feeling the movement, but, what do you think of deck 2? would you be happy there or a higher deck?:confused3

We were in #2554 on the Wonder in December, and I loved the location. Since the dining rooms are on decks 3 and 4, it was very convenient to the places we spent most of our time. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, you might want to choose a higher deck.

Deck 2 is an awesome location. Very convenient to most of what is happening and for the pool/sports decks it is only an elevator ride away.

Many activities and dining rooms are within a few flights away. Very convenient as well when you are returning from port....:thumbsup2

2546 is one of my favorite cabins....

We stay on deck 2 99% of the time and love it. Like others have said, it is a short walk up to the dining rooms and down to the gangway. These are the times that elevators are hardest to get. Getting up to breakfast/pool are a quick elevator ride away and have never had a problem with having to wait too long for the elevator.

I've cruised on decks 6, 7, 8 and 2, and deck 2 was one of my favorite locations. In fact, I've rebooked cabin 2560 for my upcoming cruise with my DD and her BFF as I loved the location so much. Deck 2 is great!

I was in 2058 on my 7 day in September and it was GREAT!! My last 3 cruises I was on deck 7 with a balcony, so I was a bit nervous, but I really really like the room and location!

:love:Thank you,for your quick replies. i feel so much better knowing i'm doing the right thing, my 10 yr.old grandson, (he'll be 11 yrs.old by the cruise), will also be with us, and he's so excited about this as well as i am.

Deck 2 was not so great for us - yes it was very convenient to restaurants, no elevator wait, etc.. BUT our cabin was right over the crew member cabins and every night about 2:30 a.m. the place was ROCKIN - music so loud coming from below us that it vibrated our bed. I didn't sleep the entire cruise and came home exhausted.
Just make sure you know what is above AND below you!!

We had friends also on Deck 2 that were not anywhere near the crew space and they had quiet nights.

I've been on deck 2 of the Wonder, with cabins below us. I also really liked the location and have booked deck 2 of the Dream for 2011. However, that ship has no cabins on deck 1, so I'm not sure I'm going to like it as much. It looks like one of the restaurants is on deck 2, though. Which ship are you on?

For me, I don't want to spend the extra money to be up higher. You have to be careful with all types of cabins and check what is above and below you.

If you are on the Magic, deck midship is the location of Ocean Quest, so it will be totally convenient for your grandson. We've been on deck 2 and liked it, but that was in the "old days" when I enjoyed having the (now defunct) library there.

we've been on deck 2 for both of our cruises and loved it. we were in 2602 in Sept. and didn't feel any motion and were right by the elevators. awesome

I'll be another to say that we :love:loved:love: our deck 2 Cat 9 room. I wouldn't pay more to stay on a higher deck Cat 8. But that is us. I'm sure others have a good reason as to why they do.

I have stayed on deck 2 midship ocean view room 3 times and loved it. My 4th cruise will be on deck 2 as well.

We've stayed on deck 2 twice and deck 1 once and now we request these decks. We were a little nervous about it at first, but out experience has always been very quiet, but that could be just us. As other posters mentioned, it was also pretty easy to get on and off the ship in many ports. I'm sure you'll be fine :goodvibes Enjoy your cruise!

We stayed in room 2506 on the Magic last month. It was a Cat 9 & it was nice. Not noisy, roomy. We were upgraded from a Cat 11 on deck 6 to this Cat 9. That being said, I loved the extra room in the Cat 9, but I would probably never pay the extra for one. Personally I would much rather have a Cat 10 on a higher deck. I realize I am probably in the minority w/ this opinion, but I actually like how dark the inside stateroom is during the day. I had trouble "sleeping in" on this cruise on sea days because of the light seeping in the window. Also I ALWAYS took the stairs last year when we were on deck 6 to deck 9. This time I was ALWAYS waiting for an elevator it seemed. Don't get me wrong, it was nice & any room on a DCL cruise is better than not being on the cruise;). I personally would just prefer to be on a higher deck w/o a porthole than a lower deck w/ one.:thumbsup2
