Hi,

I've been reading through all of the "commotion" regarding Disney's new policy of daily room checks. I can see both sides to the argument and really don't wish to get into that conversation.

However - I was reading the Guest Experiences with Daily Room Checks thread where I saw reports of CMs walking directly into guest rooms while they were occupied, both with confirmed reports that there was no knock and reports where guests couldn't be certain their heard a knock as they were listening to music, sleeping, etc.

My question is: are deadbolt and latch-locks still on the hotel room doors? In any of the situations above, it's sounding like the guest wasn't taking the right security precautions to make sure no one intruded on their space. If these have been removed from doors, I might consider cancelling my upcoming vacation as that makes me extremely uncomfortable.

YES! YES! YES! Using the latch is key to preventing "at will" access to your room.

The latch does allow those with access to view the room from about an 2" angle from the open door but it does prevent anyone from just flinging the door open as a *surprise.*

(The latch can be bypassed but I haven't read any reviews of such)... If I missed any reviews of such please let me know.

Just got home from AoA Little Mermaid, there was the swing lock plus the deadbolt. We declined housekeeping for a $10 per night gift card, housekeeping did not come in as far as we know.
