Does anyone know if you can choose where you want your room to be? (at the GHC?) I really want to stay in a room over the park, but Ive heard that you cant really choose where or what kind of room you get. Like getting a pool veiw instead of a park veiw? You know? Does that make sense?

We made reservations with Expedia, and when we checked in we asked for a room overlooking the pool. They told us it would be an additional $40/night for the "pool view". The rooms that overlook California Adventure are more than the pool view rooms, but I'm not sure how much more.

We ended up with a room that overlooked a courtyard. It was still nice, we even saw fireworks from our balcony one night (not sure where they were coming from, it was about an hour after Disneyland had closed).

Who are you making your reservations through?

We are booking through AAA, they offer a pool-theme park room and it says that you could have a pool/ partial park view room, or a park view room. I just think it would be so neat to be right by the park. Does anyone know if they have bunk bed rooms there?I guess I could just call the hotel? But who wants to talk to an actual person, right? :joker:

I think I understand now. When you overlook the pool, you can see some of the park too. You can also see the Sun Wheel and the Maliboomer as you sit at the pool (it's so neat!). Those must be the rooms they mean. A strictly park view room would be the ones facing the park only.

This site has a map of the hotel rooms

We had a room that had a set of bunk beds and a queen bed. The bunk bed also had a trundle bed underneath it, and they have cribs in the closet. There are a few pics of our room and the pool under my webshots account if you are interested. It's at http://community.webshots.com/user/jenclark2002

Have fun! We had a blast staying so close to the parks!

If you want to guarantee that you have a view, you need to pay extra per night. They can't guaranteee a particular view (like at the DLH, paying extra gets you a pool view or a park view), but if you make your request known to them, they will do what they can to get it for you.

I recommend calling the hotel at least 3 days in advance of your arrival. They do room assignments 3 days before you arrive, so if you call before then, your chance of a particular view is best. If you wait until you arrive, those rooms are more likely to be booked.

PS. If you're going at a slow time and don't want to pay for a view room, you may still luck into one if you request it at check-in! But I wouldn't chance this if you're going at a busier time.

I got a room overlooking CA but after seeing the map of the rooms that looking at the park looks like they are out of the way, am I thinking the right way?

Out of the way from what?It looks like it is next to the entrance to CA, and close to the pool. But not so close to the lobby, or the entrance to DTD. I wanna be close to the entrance to CA... I love GRR and I want to ride it a buncha times before it gets busy!

Good point staley7580, that does ease my mind a bit...Oh the stress before I even get there :santa:

We just had what they called a DTD view. but truthfully it was more of a view of the PP, DLH and the GCH parking lot. No worries though, it was still a great trip!

.

Does anyone have the direct phone number for the hotel? I've looked through all my paperwork and only see a number for WDTC. Thanks!

Thanks ORMOM2FOUR for sharing your Pic. I am going to DL for the first time in March and now looking at your pics I really cant wait to go. You have a beautiful family and it looks like they all had a great time!
