Room location at POR??

We finally decided on POR for a 3 night get away. It's our 1st stay at a Mod and from the boards, it looks like we made a good choice. (but hey --we're going to be at Disney!!! )

I have a 4 yo and we don't plan to swim nor really use the transportation. Can you suggest what section we should make a room request?

I am looking forward to our upcoming visit and we want to make our requests as soon as possible.

Also, does anyone know if Disney has foam mattress pads for the beds?

I would suggest the AB section just for the fact that those rooms are generally closer to the main building and food court. You will also be at 1 of the first 2 stops along the bus route when entering the resort. My wife and I prefer the AB because we enjoy the theming, to each their own. YOu have shaded walkways back to your room as well. The mansions are nice and when we go in Jan, if thats where we stay we will be just fine with that, but if we had a choice we'd prefer AB. As for the foam matress, I don't believe they have one or if they do I don't believe it's very thick, although the beds are fine. They are not the same matress pads that you may be used to at the deluxe resorts. When we split stays between POR and Poly, that was one thing that we noticed. The foam matress at the Poly was more comfortable.
