room keys - separate credit cards?

We're thinking of inviting some friends to stay with us next summer using our points. Since there would be 2 families, can we get different credit cards linked to the different room keys? This would make a huge difference in whether we go with a 2 BR as opposed to a 1BR and separate studio (which we'd rather not do).

Thanks!

Only 1 CC per unit. But they track which room key charged what to the room, and you can settle up with the front desk with 2 cards, just stop by the the front desk the night before check out to settle up the charges.

No, only one card on file per room reservation.

However, the key cards are numbered separately, and the night before you are scheduled to depart, you can get a printout from the front desk and separate out your charges, and pay their portion. Or, they can simply not use the room charge and use their regular credit cards for purchases.

We were able to say which keys we wanted linked to the credit card on file, and which would not have charging privileges.

Isn't there a limit on the charge that if you hit, say 1500 the credit card on file gets charged at that time and not at check out? If so do you have to approve that charge before you can charge again or does it get auto charged? Just something that if two different families can charge on the same room key there might be a problem splitting charges if some had already hit a credit card account.

When we go we think it's just easier for the second couple to use their charge card and not the room key. I am lazy and do not like taking the time to figure out who charged what.

Yes, the credit card will be auto charged when it hits a certain limit. I have had varying limits over the years so this may be dependent upon the card you are using and what they have "reserved" on that card. There is no notification to you when this is done unless you happen to have your bill printed out at some point prior to checkout and see that it happened.

I also agree that separate families should not be charging on others credit card line. I would have the room keys for them without charging privileges and let them use their own method of payment during the trip.

We just returned from a trip in which we invited friends to stay with us. The current limit for auto charges is $1,500. They can only have 1 CC on file, but as others have stated they can itemized charges by room key so you will know exactly who charged what.

Additionally, they can split charges, for example we went to Boma for dinner one night and my friend paid with his room key. The night before check out we told the front desk we would like to split that charge evenly and the front desk did so. Hope that helps.
