Room for mongo tents?

Finally sold our motor home yesterday, so now it is a definite that we will be in tents for our trip in October.

Our family of 5 will have two large tents - our sleeping tent is a 20 x 13 dome with a pretty big footprint. We also just got a 17 x 15 screen house.

We are booked for a basic, partial hookup site (no sewer, just water and electric). Will we have any problem squeezing those two tents in a site (along with our mini-van)? We'll be putting the picnic table in the screen house.

I had forgotten how ginormous our tent was until I set it up in our backyard last weekend. It looks like it will be hanging over the sandpads I've seen in pictures (we've never been to FTW before).

You should have no problem in any of the partial hookup sites. Loop 1500 and Loop 2000.

They have larger sand pads designed for those mongo tents. Loop 2000 has larger sand pads than Loop 1500, but loop 1500 is more central to everything. Site 1506 is kind of narrow and has a tree in a weird place, so you might need to avoid that site.

Site 1503 is plenty big and site 1517 is plenty big. Any of the sites in Loop 2000 will work.

If you run into trouble you could stretch the screen tent over the driveway near the edge of the sand pad and stake it down in the dirt on the edge of the driveway. That would put your picnic table out of the sand which might be beneficial.

If the driveway is wider than your screen room, then take a couple of bungie cords or parachute cord and hook that to your stake down points on the screen room and stretch them out to the dirt and stake that down.

I hope this makes sense.

LOL...
Back in July we went for a few days, and since we were with our dog, we stayed at the preferred site in a tent. Not a nice big family tent... a two person kiddie tent set up behind our little ford ranger. It was the only site available, and looked ridiculous beside all the big campers. What's even worse, there was a guy on a motorcycle that had a one person pop up trailor that he towed.
This weekend, Kiani is staying in the kennel the entire trip. And we will be at a p/h up site.

Ohh by the way... you could always get a golf cart and leave your car parked up front. Or just hop on the bus.

We just got back from Ft Wilderness on Monday. :earboy2: We actually stayed on site 1517 and 1519. We had a very big tent on both sites and several little ones for the kids. WE had lots of room. My husbend didn't like staying at the campgroung in the heat :guilty: and then going out to nice restauraunts. But our campsite was in the perfect place. We were near enough to the comfort stations and we were real close to the busstop and accross the street was the pool and playground. The bike barn was right there too. My husbend said it was the perfect site but just not in August! We all still had a good time. From now on I will request that loop and book in cooler season. The kids didn't seem to care at all, just the husbend. :rotfl2:
