Im taking a trip in March with 6 people (no children) so staying in one room isn't an option. Instead of getting two rooms, I was wondering if discounts were available on any of the villas, like boardwalk and old key west. Has anyone done this before or know how much they run for a night? Would it be cheaper just to get two rooms?

Thanks

I think I remember reading where folks have sometimes gotten a discount rate on villas. I guess it depends on availability, which for March might be on your side. Your best bet would be to rent points from a Disney Vacation Club member. There's a DVC rent/trade board here where you can learn about it and if that's something that you think you'd like to do, you can post a request there or respond to someone who's renting thier points.

I have never stayed any of the DVC resorts, so don't know what the prices are, but I'm pretty confident that two rooms at a value resort would be less expensive, I would not be surprised if you couldn't get two rooms at a moderate for about the same as the DVC room. I think March is high season (spring break) - especially mid to late March which would include Easter in 2005. I'd check the rates at POP. Book early, use AAA if you have it, then if any general room-only codes become available, you could rebook at the lower code rate. Good luck.

Have you considered a Fort Wilderness cabin? I think they accommodate 6 people... 4 in the back room (double bed and bunk bed) and two in the living room (Murphy bed). There is a small kitchen and maid service. Only drawback is that they are kind of isolated, so transportation can be difficult.

Another thing to consider--the Swan & Dolphin offer discounts on their suites. Many of their smaller suites would sleep six and the price may well be less than two adjoining rooms, using one of the many discounts usually available.

Unless you rent points from a DVC member it will be very pricey to book directly thru Disney at the DVC resorts. They do occassionally offer Discount codes for the DVC villas but even with the codes, it will be much less expensive for 2 rooms at a value or moderate. To give you an idea what they run thru Disney, I called last week to add a 1bdrm villa on a Sat. night directly thru Disney to my points ressie in Sept. with the new AZZ code that just came out and with the discount code for 1 night in a 1bdrm villa at BCV's they wanted $345 before tax so a 2bdrm would be upwards of that (a 1bdrm btw will only sleep 4 so you'd need a 2bdrm that will sleep up to 8). I didn't end up booking it - we opted to stay at a moderate over the weekend.

If you're interested in renting the points from a DVC member it can cost you significantly less than booking thru Disney but you'd need to start looking for a member to rent to you about 11mos in advance if you'll be trying to book for Spring break/Easter as that is when members book for that time of year.

Anyway, just thought I'd give you a bit of info. on the subject. Unless you want to go that route, it would probably be better to just book more than one room and ask to have them near each other.

Best of luck!
