Room checks...romantic couples trip

If you did not let them know.
How could they fix it?

Housekeeping is making regular service calls to that room. The door was broken before the guest checked in. We know that because that's how she found the door when she checked in.

Why is it her responsibility to waste her vacation time herding Disney into fixing it's resort problems? Isn't it Disney's job to maintain their own rooms? That's a pretty obvious problem, one that should not have been missed by houseKEEPING and reported by them.

Any time I have an issue with a hotel room.I let them know.

It usually takes about 2 minutes.

Absolutely agree. So much for the security room checks.

I have spent some time trying to read up on options for dealing with room checks but I'm starting to get stressed out.

My husband and I will be at Kidani for 3 nights in September, renting points. We NEVER get time alone. I'm barely exaggerating here, we live in a very small house with 3 adult kids (youngest 18) and our room has a passthrough to one of the bedrooms, so privacy is a real issue. :scared:

So I'm so excited to have 3 uninterrupted days to spend with him but come to find out people will be knocking on our door and coming in whether we like it or not. I know it seems like such a small short thing, but I think because I have had to deal with being interrupted in my own home, it's really making me stress about if we come back mid day from the parks and want some alone time.

Should I request a certain time at the front desk? Will they even honor it? Has anyone dealt with this on a couple trip? I'm not shy about telling them directly why, if that will help! Lol, obviously since I'm posting on a public forum! :rolleyes1

Last time we were there, they weren't doing the checks, so I really have no clue how to deal but I might lose my mind if we lock the bar lock and they interrupt and try to open a door. o_O
Don't stress it.....it's totally random...never happened to us...and like everyone said, just use the latch.

I am not sure if I would characterize the checks as random. Per a card Disney leaves in each room, “cast members visually inspect every room for maintenance, safety, security, AND other purposes daily”, sometimes when the guests are in the room, sometimes when the guests are out of the room. I will add that during our October 2018 trip, visits from different maintenance staff for two different maintenance issues on one day did not suffice, someone still came in to remove the trash that day. Use the latch at all times you are in the room. HK will knock if the room occupied sign is on your door. If they knock and you don’t answer they will try to open the door. Thus, the advice to use the latch.

Exactly. Well said.

OMG.

Thank you for your common sense response. I don’t have the energy to reply to nonsense.

I guess someone didn’t want their room checked and “security” forced their way in.

What's more likely is that the latch was damaged over time by careless or rough guests. Guests who flip the latch outward to keep the door from closing shut when people are going in and out of the room. Guests with kids who are slamming doors. People attempting to walk into a room when the door is latched and they are irritated or messing around. Having worked in a hotel before, its amazing how careless people are with things that are not theirs.

As mentioned, security would not need to force their way in because there is a tool that can undo the latch without causing damage to the room. The only potential exception could be a medical situation or a criminal act in progress, where maybe police/ambulance were involved. And in that case, I'd imagine the room would be out of commission and the latch would be subsequently fixed.
