Room Charges to Debit Cards

Please remind me of what holds or charges are put on your debit card at check-in. Do they hold anything up front for incidentals? Charge your card for everything at check-out? I vaguely recall having to settle up mid way thru and then again at check-out? Thanks in advance.

They don't put a hold but depending on your resort "level", they may charge you during the trip. Each level has a charge limit, I believe it's $500 for value, $750 or $1,000 for moderate, $1,500 for Deluxe?

There aren't any holds placed on your credit card. Disney doesn't do that. They will charge your credit card for any balance due on your room at check in. And they will charge your credit card for everything on your check out day, at 2 am on your check out day. So if you want charges on a different card then you need to talk to them the night before. :)

That works, thanks. Do you happen to know if it's credit cards AND debit cards that they handle this way? We don't have credit cards and some hotels put a hold our debit card, so we always have to have extra $ in the account for those times.

We are in a value and are hoping to not reach the $500 mark since we are on free dining, won't have a room balance, and kids will have their own spending money.

Mid trip is pay day so there will be a funds re-load midway thru....lol!

Disney simply doesn't put a hold on cards.

If this makes you too nervous, remember that you don't have to do room charging. You could just pay as you go with your card, or perhaps buy a Disney gift card with your debit and use the gift card for Disney purchases.

You also have the option to stop by the front desk each night and pay off your charges for the day. I saw a post that said the $500 before they charge you has been increased. But if you stop by the desk before you get to the magic number, you can have them charge you as you go. I would ask the first day what the real number is so you know.

Thanks all! I know when I stay at any other hotel, they normally "hold" some amount of $ on my debit card basically rendering those funds unusable. I'm glad to know that disney does not do this :-) Just didn't want any surprises when I checked in :-)

Just make sure you debit card doesn't have a daily limit on charges. Most don't, but some still do.

This is good to know. I am planning on NOT putting my debit card on our room this trip since I have a lot of Disney gift cards. I too thought they put a hold on your credit/debit cards. Plus TWICE not recently but a few years back.....my USAA credit card was compromised at Disney on two different trips.
