Room charges limit

I can't remember. What is the room charge limit that you can put on your key? I thought at the Polynesian it was $1000.00 before they charged your card then authorized another $1000.00. Is this correct?

Do the limits vary from value to moderate to deluxe?

We returned on 7/20/07 and our limit was $1,500 (Polynesian Concierge). I know this only because we were at $1,200 when my husband asked for a print out. They offered to go ahead and charge it before it reached $1,500 in order to assure we had no "charging issues" for the remainder of our stay. I'm not sure about limits varying from one resort type to another--maybe someone else can help.

Yes, it's different for each resort "class". The spending limit is $500 at values, $1000 at moderates and $1500 at deluxes.

Yes, this was exactly what they told me when I inquired during our May trip...

Can you put different amounts on different cards. Like I am bring one credit card and I planned on $2000.00 for me and Mom is planning on $600.00 for my little sister can I put the $2000.00 on my key to world and the $600.00 on my sisters. And if you do not spend all of the money put on your key to the world do they give you cash back or just put it back on your credit card.

You can only have one card on file at a time. You can't have separate keys go to separate cards. And they don't charge the limit up front, they just check to make sure you have that much available in your credit limit. They only actually charge once you reach the limit the last night of your stay.

We have always settled our bill every couple of days (go to the desk, ask for the bill and pay cash). That way we were able to confirm what unrecognized charges were, get errant charges removed (it does happen, though only twice to us in 3 trips), etc. It also keeps us aware of how much we are spending....its way too easy to "charge it to the room" and not really pay attention to what you are spending.

Great idea!! This would be much easier to keep track of rather than try to figure it out the last day (or when you get home)....plus, it is highly unlikely that you would ever charge up to your max in one or two days (especially at Moderates or deluxes)...Thanks for the tip for the next trip!

You can always get a Disney Gift card to carry around for the different amount. This is what I am going to do for DDs. They will start out with $50 each and then I will add to it if needed.

Not sure...however, I do not think it is meant to be insulting...I guess they figure that those staying in the more expensive resorts are likely going to spend money more freely therefore, giving them a higher limit....again, I have never really asked so I do not know the exact answer....just a guess.

I am the budget person in my group, so that is an excellent way for my to check on DH's spending in the World. He can never tell the Kids no when the ride we go on empties into a gift shop. The girls tend to hijack their Dad and next thing you know there are random Disney souvies all over our hotel room.

We're staying at POP and I dont want to have to carry around my purse etc. Can we give them 2000.00 at the desk in cash to put on our Disney card to use anywhere for meals, shopping etc?

I've done this before, except at Coronado Springs. and Contemporary. I gave them cash at check in and there were no problems at all.

(For those of those you that wonder why I don't just use my Visa, I got myself into a world of hurt in college...about ten years ago. I've since cleared up my mess, but I just don't want anything lingering over my head and I STILL don't trust myself to go by a mental budget and pay it off when I get home. I'm on vacation and I've saved for that purpose, I don't want any unpleasant souveniers arriving in the mail when I get home! )

we have a Visa but only like to use should any emergencies come up. I like being able to just use cash then I know what I spend and its over and done with dont have to worry about any bills 30 days later.

ok, i will have paid in full for my trip before we even arrive, so how does this work? do they authorize whatever credit card i paid for the trip with, or do they ask for another one and pre authorize it?
