The Person at WDW reservations said that depending on how busy they are ( NOVEMBER 2005) that if for whatever reason we are not there the day of reservation, they can give the room away. My comeback was if a delay that is unforeseen, ( we are going for 8 nights) happens, I'm paying for the week anyway. She said thats not how it works.
You need to check in to activate the entire reservation. It Makes me very unsettled to think that if something delays us, that they can give our room away, for a vacation we have planned and have taken time off for, even if we would pay. Oh, by the way, trip insurance wouldn't protect the inssue of giving the room away.

Why would they not hold the room even if I am paying for it?????

My suggestion is if you know you're coming in late, just give them a call so they know that you are on your way there and then maybe they can make a note of it on your reservation.

Sorry, I don't have the answer to that. Maybe cause you have to be there to sign the receipt on the date that you're suppose to check-in. It's like, the transaction is not final unless you sign the receipt. Until you sign it, the room is not yours.

I'm thinking the OP may be wondering about unforseeen delays, such as snowstorms socking in an airport or ice storms preventing travel...

so of course, I have no clue, but I would keep wdw # handy just in case and say, they've cancelled my flight, I'm coming in at 4AM... or whatever.. i wonder tho, if you have 8 day/night reservations, and dont check in on the first night, do they cancel the other 7? or is it one day at a time (which I cant imagine) I do imagine they would credit you (in their time, not immediate) if you came a day late.........

ah the possiblities, I must be really tired

There is one situation which has been discussed on these boards that could explain the policy. Many on these boards know that, with most of WDW discount codes, the critical date for benefitting from the discount is the day on which your reservation commences. I assume that this is not your situation but I'm wondering if the policy is designed to curb abuses in connection with scenarios where people book reservations that start on days they know they won't be staying at WDW to make their entire stay eligible for a discount.

As I recall from prior threads, depending on the circumstances, sometimes the savings can be several hundreds of dollars even if you are paying for an extra night that you won't be using.

I think that if you are a no show and don't call ahead that you will be late you can lose the room. This happened to a friend last year at a local campground. They were scheduled to check in on a Wed and did not show up til Thurs morning. Even though the entire stay was prepaid the campground still resold the site. They were told that they should have called that they were going to be arriving late... supposedly they did but only got voice mail. Luckily they managed to get on another site but it was still an annoyance. I would recheck the policy and ask if you call ahead that you will be late (arriving next morining) would the room be held, especially if it is already paid for. Even if you are delayed you should have access to a phone somewhere whether it be at an airport or if you are driving at a rest area.

Thanks. My compalint is that if I'm telling them to bill it, why give the room away. Whats the point? It's like purchasing something over the phone.

We have checked into a Disney Resort after midnight before and never had a problem. I would suggest you note a possible late arrival on your reservation.

If you're paid in full, and are going to be delayed, just call them. I think the 'giving away of rooms' is for pure no shows. Especially in the way on of the Previous Posters described. (Starting your res in a lower priced season, and simply not showing up).

I would program the number for CRO (or WDWTC) and the number of your hotel into your cellphone, and then if you need to call them, you can without much of a hassle at all.
