Room booking question/annual pass?

Im going to book at a room at POR for the 3rd week in August in hopes of the free dining promotion. Im not booking a package just the room. I need to make sure I get a room booked because we are a family of 5 and this is the only moderate resort as we all know that will take a family of 5 besides the FW cabins.

IF/WHEN they release the free dining can I add a package to my room reservation or will I have to completely cancel reservation and rebook it?

IF i book a package can I upgrade my park passes to annual passes while Im down there?

You will have to cancel and rebook your reservation. You may or may not be able to re-secure the same resort with free dining. It will depend upon availability at the time they offer the promo. Some resorts can be excluded or very limited if their rooms are already booked up. Cabins have been excluded before in some FD promos, espically BB. I don't recall any of the mods or value's being excluded all together so far but there have been some that were full within hours of announcing FD packages.

In a nutshell if you are not going without free dining or another promo there is no point in booking the room now as it will have to be cancelled to rebook under the promos. Also booked rooms mean less availability at the resort which means Disney can be less likely to offer promos to fill rooms, will 1 room make a difference? no but a couple dozen could, 1 booked room at a time.

yes you can book a package and then upon arrival use your MYW tickets in the package to upgrade to AP's we do this every other year and just did it last month. it is the best value with free dining that I can fine. You get FD first trip then use that ticket to upgrade to AP for subsequent trips that year.



FYI you might want to try the discount rates and codes board here on the Dis, although people are using this board a lot for these types of questions, this board is not for discount promotions it is more for themes or celebrations Disney does and has done in the past. The discount rates and codes board will have more activity with more up to date information than this board

Thanks for the reply.. We need a roll in shower room because my son is handicapped so I always book early to make sure we get one with the accomidations we need.
