Ok so we have to start making our room block.. .finally!! I am wondering if anyone can help me with a few questions before I pester my coordinator:

Can you pick more than 3 resorts?

Also, if you need more rooms then they can give you, you have to guarantee more room nights for your wedding... But what are the consequences if you raise your room night requirement to get more room blocks, but then can't fill your room requirements?? Does anyone know? I don't want to request more room nights if we can't end up filling it... because I'm afraid that guests will say that they are coming (hence why we need more room blocks), but then drop out at the last minute... just a bad feeling...

Thanks!!

ETA: Also, is the Pop not able to be included on a roomblock? It wasnt listed in the email that she sent us...

Thanks!

I am not totally sure about the last part of your question but you can choose more than 3 resorts. I have 4. I picked the All Star Movies, Cornado Springs, Grand Floridian and Wilderness Cabins.

We have already talked to our coordinator regarding our room block and completed it since we had to do ours sooner d/t the reception site. She was a huge help so don't feel like you are bothering her at all!! We were told that you could choose any three resorts .. so you can choose three value if you want or one of each. We ended up choosing just a moderate and a value since we know my family is coming from ny and would prefer a cheaper hotel so they can stay longer! As for the room block which I swear seems like it is going to be the hardest part ever... whatever number you choose you have to guarantee them like 80% of that number!! So if yousay 50 you must have 40. She told us to guess less and then as long as the rooms are available...the guests will still get the discount... So in other words as long as they book plenty of time in advance which most do for travel/work reasons they will be fine! If you don't get the rooms booked I think you have to eat the cost... Email the coordinator or call.. I had Pam and she was great!

Oh yes and definitely you can get the pop !! we did we love it wayyy more than the allstar you just have to request it!

At the time we booked our wedding, Pop Century was not able to be blocked; if it's available now, go for it!

You may put up to four hotels in your block, but I have to warn you that the more hotels you have guests staying at, the more money you will have to spend on transportation and the longer they will have to sit on the bus while it picks everyone up (if you are providing transportation).

If you fail to fill at least 25 room nights, all that happens is you forfeit the free room night they give the bride and groom. Disney reserves the right to charge you for the missing room nights at the rate of the cheapest hotel in your block, but if you are having trouble they can lower the requirement to just 10 nights and skip the free night.

I'd say err on the side of caution and block only the minimum number you think you will need. If your guests book early enough, they will have no trouble getting rooms. And if, like mine, they don't book in time and your blocked hotels fill up, Disney will give them your discounted rate at a comparable Disney hotel.

Awesome, I'm going to email my coordinator and request it!

Hmmmm, I did not think of this! Thanks for brining this to my attention! DF's neighbors who he grew up next to requested that we block off rooms for them at the Poly b/c the Grand is "too old lady" :rotfl:

Since the majority of our families are going to be staying at the Grand, I wasn't sure if I could do more than 3 resorts.

OK, they are planning on booking relatively soon anyway, so can they still get the discount through the wedding even if the Poly isn't on my room block?

Lurkyloo is right about the transportation. From the time my first guests get picked up until the last stop, they are on the bus for 45 minutes :scared1:

No, the Poly will have to be in your room block for them to get the discount now. The only way they could get the discount if it's not in your block would be if the Grand was sold out when they went to book it. However, they may be eligible for other discounts that are just as good - do they have AAA or a Disney Visa?

If you do add the Poly to your block, it's not a big deal - it looks like they'll be staying there anyway, so there's no getting around having to provide transportation to the Poly.

Some of my guests were on the bus for 1 1/2 hours! :scared1: I feel veeeerrrry bad about that ... :sad2:

Thanks Carrie! well crap! lol. Ok I think I'm going to put the hotel in the block, hmmmmm and then maybe I can have them take the monorail to the GF.... Oh dear, decisions decisions... Yea the less time the guests have to sit on the bus, the better I think! 1 1/2 hours is craaaazy! I think I would want to pull my hair out if I had to sit on a bus for that long! This is going to take some planning...

No, I just never did the math on it until today - and none of my guests dared complain to me about it :rotfl:

The first resort guests got picked up at 7:20am, and I know the bus didn't arrive at Epcot until about 8:45am (OK, maybe 8:35 or 8:40 - I'm not sure how long they waited around for the ceremony to start).

I'm just amazed that no one ever pointed out to me how long my guests were gonna be sitting on the bus as I merrily added extra resorts to the room block, so it is now my mission to warn others! :thumbsup2
