Are room blocks mandatory with booking a DFTW? Boyfriend was asking if he should move his DVC points to accommodate some of our family. We're just unsure if that will end up hurting us in the long run... if it did I could be going to Cars Land next year! :scratchin :cool1:

Hello,
I am relatively new to the Wedding boards---I'm a mom of a DFTW bride-to-be next year. We are DVC Members and were told at our site visit that, YES, we can use our point stays as counting towards the room block ! Initial paperwork was filed on April 4 and we're waiting for the agreement paperwork now. But in two different conversations with two different wedding consultants, we were told our DVC is a "go" ! We are still setting aside cash rooms as well.
Hope this helps.

Room blocks are not required for DFTW. I believe there is a minimum night guarantee, but DVC reservations definitely count toward this, if you choose not to offer a room block.

If you don't already have it, I recommend the Passporter for Disney weddings and honeymoons. You can go to www.passporter.com and order it. If you buy and download the eBook, you can also download it anytime there's an update. The book gives you a lot of information that you don't get from Disney until further along. It's a great resource to put some plans together and navigate the options available (including the ones that aren't freely offered sometimes).

The author, Carrie, posts on here frequently. Her Dis name is lurkyloo. I think she's got a link to the book in her signature.

Also, in addition to the boards here, there is also a Disbrides Facebook group. Lots of information and support exchanged there. If you search Disbrides on Facebook you can request to be added.

That's great to hear, makes decisions a whole lot easier.

This eBook looks like it's only for Disneyworld and the Cruise Line....does anyone know if they have anything for Disneyland?
