Room Block Guarantee Question

OK, so even after using the search function, I'm still a little confused about the Room Block issue. I know my absolute minimum of room nights required by Disney is 25, but say I upped the "guarantee" to 50 on my worksheet. What happens if I don't reach that number?

The way I understand it is, if you add more rooms to your block then you have to fill it. Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure that's the way it works. HTH!
 
Well, per the contract you are liable for the difference.
That's part of our headache... we don't want to put too high of a guarantee that we might not be able to meet it but we also don't want to put too low in fear that we might not have enough rooms to accommodate everybody... :(

If your contract states 25 and you don't fill them then you would have to pay for the lowest rate room in your block for the nights you are missing.

As for adding nights later in the process the best thing to do is discuss with your planner.. sometimes they magically appear in your block esp if your block is going well and the resort is almost full.
 

25 is always the min, then i don't know how they figure it but the more rooms you add the more you have to guarantee, its not 50 for 50, when u do the worksheet online it'll tell you how many you have to guarantee, so just play with numbers, we had no problem meeting our 25 rooms, we only had 50 guests, and 10 of them stayed off property, try to ask main people (parents, wedding party, close friends) how long they will be staying it makes it easier and what hotel they want to stay at...
 
I think the worksheet online is a little off though...I put that I was having 70 guests and it told me I had to guarantee 50 room nights :scared1: But my LOA was only 25 :confused3 I'd ask the planner:thumbsup2
 
We were told by our coordinator that the room blocks could be adjusted up or down, or shift if hotel A is getting tons more reservations than hotel B. This is true up until 90 days pre-wedding at which point the blocks are fixed, can't be changed, and the couple is responsible for paying the difference.

Double check with your planner but we asked a couple of times and that was the answer we got.
 
Also, you can hold 20% more rooms than you are guaranteeing. We had a minimum of 25 but ended up guaranteeing about 34 after trying to figure out where everyone will stay. I figured 9 of the nights were us alone so we shouldn't have any problem meeting the nights. We are in Florida so I thought we would have a hard time but we aren't really.
 
Thanks for all your replies. I hope I have this right...it sounds like we have until 90 days out to finalize our guaranteed number, after which point we'll be responsible to pay for any unused room nights. Yep, this is ending up being kind of stressful. Our guests keep changing their minds on how long they'll be staying!
 
We were able to shift the rooms as needed. I called almost everyone to determine where they wanted to stay and for how long. I think did a spreadsheet so that I could count, and updated it as people changed their minds. I don't think you have to worry about Disney running out of rooms, but more about the discounted rate. I think you are going to be fine!
 
Our sales manager said that the room blocks could be changed around up until 90 days out. I put in a lot of rooms and lied to my guests about the deadline for booking - I gave them the 90 day out date as the last possible time to book. That got everyone to book and I still had the option to drop rooms if I needed to so we wouldn't be charged. I ended up filling the whole block, but it made me feel better knowing that we wouldn't get stuck paying for empty rooms.
