Do room assignments ever get assigned a head of time and appear on your resv page through DVC?

You will not get your room assignement until you arrive. They are apparently assigned shortly before that but nothing is provided to you showing what it is on your reservation page or otherwise.

I have been told several times by CM's that room assignments can start up to 10 days prior to check in. Each resort does their own thing and the CM's at each resort tend to vary the process a little bit.

The day of check in, assigned rooms may change as rooms are switched and guest requests/demands are met.

Disney wants to stop re-assignments, that's what online check in was supposed to do. It has helped but on check in day there are still lines at the front desk. They are working on a revised check in process which is designed to reduce the room changes and front desk lines even further.
