Room approached via sky bridge? AKL Jambo Villas question

Hi Again Everyone,

We think it would be superfun for our kids to have to cross the rope/sky bridge to get to our room when we stay at AKL Villas.

We have a "deluxe savannah-view studio," on rented points, and I understand those are usually on the 5th floor.

So we thought we'd try to request a specific room.

(I know, it's only a request..... ;-) Are you allowed to phone and request a room by number? Just thought we'd try that strategy.)

Does anyone know a good room that is approached from the sky bridge?

We would be happy with a view of the Sunset Savannah.

Someone on here mentioned studio 5209. Any other ideas?

thanks very much!
:cheer2:

PS: It's our first trip to Disney, and I'm kinda over-planning.

First, as others would tell you, requesting a specific room # usually doesn't help. I know for us, we've requested a specific room # twice, and both times we got a room as far away as possible from that one and not at all like it. I'm pretty sure that if you ask for Arusha savannah on the Kidani side of the lobby or the Sunset Savannah, your kids will cross that sky bridge whenever you want to take the elevator to Mara. And I'm with them-it IS fun to stand up there and look down at the lobby!

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

No use requesting specific room? Good to know.

So, would that be Kudo Trail, close to lobby? (You have to cross the sky/rope bridge to get to rooms in that area?)

You guys rock!!

You never have to use the bridge to get to any room. There is always a route to the room that does not involve the bridge.

The bridge creates a rectangle, so to get from the elevators (at one corner of the rectangle) to the opposite corner, you could either use the regular hallways, or the bridge. Rooms that are accessed along this opposite corner are along the Kudu Trail portion of Jambo House.

Exactly! As others said, you don't HAVE to, but the way I always went to Mara was across the bridge, to the elevator on Zebra Trail, then straight down to the doors by Simba's Cub House and to Mara.

I just wanted to add that since you are renting points, you will need to ask the member you are renting from to make any room requests for you. DVC member services will only speak with members.

Good luck with your request -- sounds like you will have fun! :goodvibes
