Room 3519 @ VWL, better or worse than a standard 2 bedroom.

We just returned from a 5-night stay at the VWL and 2 nights at the Portofino Bay Hotel. I requested a 2 bedroom that over looked the quiet pool we were given room 3519. If you’re not familiar with this room it is laid out somewhat differently. Because it's on the corner of the VWL it is a little broken up. The employee at the hotel desk said that we would be very happy with the room, "It's one of the best". But after careful consideration I feel that you actually lose space when you compare it to a standard 2 bedroom. I am interested in your opinions on this. I did like the room overall but in the future I think I would like to try a standard 2 bedroom.

I think you got more balcony and window room than the normal 2-bedroom.

We had 5519 (just the 1 BR part), which had 2 balconies, but the bedroom balcony was enclosed. It had less closet space in the bedroom, and the layout was definitely different. It seemed smaller than the other 1BRs, but great for the 2 of us. I remember thinking that if we had guests, it would have been less comfortable. We were given that room for DH's 50th birthday, and he loved it so much he thought I called and got something extra special.

Perhaps it comes down to individual taste. We found the location and view wonderful, and the extra windows in the living room made it very light.

We have been in 2519, dedicated 2br twice. It is our absolute favorite room and location. It is definitely laid out differently, but we really enjoy it. We felt the livingroom area was larger than the other dedicated 2br we have been in.

We had other family at VWL in a lock-off 2 br on our last trip in January. They came into our room and asked how we got the Presidential Suite.

I guess it does come down to preference, but we would choose that room again if we could!

Last summer we stayed in 5519. It seemed a whole lot bigger to us. Sure the layout is different, but we thought the living area was noticeably bigger. What we really loved was the view. Too bad those trees obstruct much of the view of the lake. It would have been cool to watch EWP from our room. Still, it was better than any other room we've stayed in.
