We recently stayed at Ron Jon's and although we enjoyed our stay and would stay again, there are a few things that you may want to know before you visit.

There are no ice machines anywhere.

Towels have to be brought from your room as there are no towels available at the pool.

There is no housekeeping unless you stay for a minimum of 7 nights.

The slide and lazy river close at 5:00 P.M.

The lazy river is closed at 5? Everyday? Why??
We will get in around that time and is one fo the reasons I chose Ron Jon's over Radisson.
What about hauling luggage. We will not have a car as we are being drop off by towncar service. We are in the pool building. How far will we have to haul our luggage? We will have quiet a bit as we are combining this with another vacation.

Hi BeachParty,
We stayed at the Ron Jon for two nights before our cruise, so hopefully I can help. The regular pool remains open after 5pm, but the Lazy River and Water Slide shut down at that time every day. (I don't know if it's because it gives them time to clean and dinsinfect everything before dark, or if after an afternoon of adult beverages they figure enough for the day :) It did seem early to us too. We ended up heading down to the beach via their tram, and went swimming in the ocean instead. It was really fun.

As far as hauling luggage, we had to do that. We arrived at 11pm and had to ring a bell for access to the main lobby, which you could access if you had your room key. I did like that security feature. But other than the help at the desk, who were pleasant, there were no bellhops in sight. When we left Saturday morning we didn't see any either, but in Ron Jon's defense we had already decided to wheel the bags out ourselves and never called for help from the desk. We were in the main building, and it wasn't far to bring them to the room, and of course there are elevators. I am looking at a map they provided when we checked in, but the various buildings are not labeled, just the pool, restaurants etc.

We really liked our stay at RonJons-we had rental car and planned to Kennedy Space Center on Friday, but ditched that idea and stayed by the pool most of the day. They had entertainment, and bar area poolside where you could also order food and buy ice cream.

We rented a studio room for 4 of us, and although it was nice and clean, it was small. The bathroom, however, was the size of the sitting room area. I did pick this type of room on purpose though, so we wouldn't go from a huge hotel room to the ship's cabin which might feel a lot smaller.

The big negative for us was we had a very loud family next door to us, and the rooms were connecting and the soundproofing at the door is not so good. The Dad was yelling and the kids were talking back and it all went on almost to midnight. Not cool. My daughters were horrified. If they acted like that I swear I would never take them on vacation again.

We checked into getting a shuttle from Ron Jons to the port and getting rid of the rental early, but it didn't sound too promising so we stuck with our original plan.

Have fun!
Kathy

Thanks, that helps some. I still need to decide what I want to do.

Beechparty,

There are plenty of luggage carts available to the left of the registration desk so you can load your own.

The pool bldg. is right by the two parking garages at the front of the resort.

Yes the bathroom is huge in the studio, they could have taken a good 4 feet or so from the bathroom and added it to the main room.

Closing the lazy river at 5 means that they don't have to hire any additional help to watch it in the evenings, that's my guess.

As I've posted elsewhere, don't expect early check in here. My dad really wanted to get in a room because his back was killing him but nothing was opened until 4PM on the dot.
Then of course if you wait until you get in your room, you have to change into your suits and run down to the pool because your slide time is almost over! There is only that one hour between check in time and when the slide closes.
There were luggage carts when we got there but Saturday morning at 8:30 there were none to be found, so we had to wheel everything out to our rental car without any carts.
Ron Jons has its plusses--the slide was cool, although there are no locks on the pool lockers and I never could find towels--but for an overnight stay I think I'd go back to the Radisson next time. If I had more than one night I might consider Ron Jons again.

There are no towels at the pool, you have to use room towels at the pool and ask housekeeping for more.

See they tell you that you can use the pool before you check in, but then if you haven't checked in you don't have any available towels! And they told us there were towels, but we looked all around the whole locker area and found nothing. Maybe they are still getting the kinks out of the system.
BTW if you go there WEAR SHOES, water shoes or flip flops, the area by the pool is HOT in the sun!
