Has anyone stayed there? What did you pay for your room? did they offer a shuttle/parking? how much did this cost? Was it worth the money?

We stayed there for two nights just before the westbound Panama Canal Cruise. We liked it. Had a 1br suite which was very nice. The pool area is great! Every meal that we had was very good. Really have no complaints about the place. Don't recall exactly what we paid but it was reasonable.

They did not have a free shuttle but set us up with one that was $5 per person.

Thanks for the info. We are thinking of staying the night before our cruise and there are a lot of cheaper (I think) options. Just trying to find out if it was worth it.

Has anyone else stayed there? Thank you for your opinions.

Hi, We stayed at Ron Jon for two nights before our cruise last March. This was busy Easter weekend peak season, so we paid $145 per night for a studio.

PROS: Beautiful resort, great pool - especially for kids. Convenient to ocean which I found so awesome. The shuttle to the ocean was quick, never a long wait. Loved the Florida/Miami decor. Everyone was friendly and nice, including the guests. The studio was large. The bathroom was huge. Our odd little shaped room was bigger than I thought it would be. The store inside Ron Jon has almost everything you need for your trip. You can also find all the fixings to make quick meals in your room. If you have children, they will love the pool. Lots of people were enjoying the mini-golf.

CONS: To me, the restaurant dinner menu was very limited, the food was nothing to speak of, except for the dessert. My hamburger at the outdoor restaurant was raw after waiting a long time for it. They don't serve breakfast. The service was very slow at the restaurants most of the time. I could never stay here more than two days with no car due to the food. No shuttle - you have to arrange a shuttle thru the consierge. Don't wait til the day before your cruise to book this Travelinx Shuttle though, or you might not get a morning shuttle and be stuck with an afternoon shuttle. We wanted a morning shuttle, they were all booked, had to book with Arts Shuttle and Arts stood us up. We then had to call a taxi and arrived at the Port much later than we wanted to. I think Ron Jon needs to re-think this shuttle business for the prices they charge.

The next time we need a room prior to the cruise, I may opt for the Radisson instead of Ron Jon, just to save money. Ron Jon was very nice, but there were a few things I wasn't wild about. If money was no object or if I was traveling with children that would love the waterpark, I would choose the Ron Jon again for that reason. The only thing I would miss by not choosing Ron Jon next time is the close proximity to the ocean since we don't get that opportunity very often. I would miss the ocean very much. Ok, so looks like I'm torn...lol. Was it worth the money? Yes. Would I do it again? Not sure.

Hope that helps,
Tink

It does help, but I'd like to hear more opinions. We wouldn't be arriving until the afternoon of the day before the cruise and I wonder if we shouldn't stay i a cheaper resort or if it is worth it for my two kids to use thegreat pool for one afternoon/evening.

My hubby and I stayed at Ron Jon's just last month for an overnight stay. We LOVED it and plan on staying there again next year. We had a Studio which was very spacious for 2 and was around $130 for night. There was a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom which was a great way to relax the night before the cruise. We are not fancy eaters, so we rather enjoyed the restaurant it had enough variety for us and we thought the pricing was reasonable. I will agree that the downside was that it doesn't serve breakfast. The next day, we didn't have to be at until 1PM or later so when we checked out, you get a bracelet to wear for the day so you can use the facilities on the property; they will even store your luggage for you if you don't have a rental car. We took the tram they have on property that drops you off by their ocean front rooms - from there we took a short walk to get to the beach and just beach combed for a while. We walked to the pier that's there and it's actually the canal that the cruise ships go through. It was pretty cool. We actually rented a car from Orlando Int'l from Budget so we had a car to go wherever the day before we sailed, brought it back to Budget in Port Canaveral which is maybe 5 min. from Ron Jon's and rented a car from Budget at Port Canaveral for the day when we off the ship (we had a late evening flight back) and ret'd it to the Orlando Int'l airport. Everything worked out quite nicely for us.

We had stayed at The Raddison the year before and we liked Ron Jon's so much better.

I hope this helps and if I can offer you any more info, please send me a PM!

We haven't stayed there yet, but have a ressie for a 2bdrm night before our cruise in sept. Our cost was $236 with a AAA discount. We have 6 people (my family of 4 and my parents) so a 2 bdrm seemed the best for us, and splitting the cost of the room makes it more affordable and closer in price to the other places where we'd have to get 2 rooms. We are very excited about the pools. There are a lot of reviews at www.tripadvisor.com. Some hitches in the beginning, but most have been pretty good. I can't wait! Oh yeah, and my kids too. hee hee. Lazy river here I come!
