My trip with the students fell through, but I'm still going to the yearbook workshop in Orange by myself...and a friend is coming along to do DL with me! :goodvibes...we will have 1 and 1/2 days, as well as 3 other evenings to spend in the parks.

I think there was a similar thread on this subject last week, but I can't find it. Hopefully people won't mind repeating themselves about such a lovely topic...:cloud9:

I already have a lunch date at the Blue Bayou--I'd rather do dinner, but I'm worried about the wait and the chance of getting a waterside seat, so decided to stick with the dis board recommendation of lunch at 11:30. :goodvibes

What else can one do at Disneyland with their significant other that becomes even more magical because you're doing it with the one you love? I know, I know, just being in DL will be esp magical, but I'm looking for those suggestions that make your heart melt with the romance of it all...or even just make it feel all warm and fuzzy!

I want to mention that I have a little black dress that I want to wear, and so would like suggestions for places to wear that.

Thanks in advance for your help, everyone! :grouphug:

Napa Rose (at the Grand Californian) may be a nice place to wear your dress. I hear that it is wonderful (I've never been there) but it is a more formal and quieter place to have a romantic dinner.

While I know nothing of romance yet (at least while at Disneyland), I think the Napa Rose would be a great place to wear your dress. The restaurant is amazing, in my opinion, and while not completely calm, it is much calmer than any other resort restaurant.

My only other idea would be the spa at Grand Californian - though I have never been there and I don't know if you need to be a guest to use it.

DH and I used to go sit by the outside fireplace at the GCH. We haven't been there recently (not as romantic, or even possible with DS3, lol) but when used to go there would be very few other people. Often we would be the only ones there. If I remember correctly, there is a view of DCA so at night you can see all the lights on the tall rides.

I would definately try Napa Rose and when you make your ressie, ask to sit in seats 3 and 4 or 5 and 6 at the chef's counter. It is the most amazing experience and super romantic. DH and I have done it twice and it was so special and romantic both times.

^^I agree with previous posters that Napa Rose is the best restaurant for the black dress. Anywhere else, you might feel a little out of place all dressed up. Napa Rose is quite expensive, but from what I've heard, the experience is amazing. I would highly recommend it if you and your significant other like wine, since they offer different wine flights/tastings and an extensive wine list. Chef's table is also talked about a lot on the boards as a great romantic evening. Oh, and GCH alone is romantic. :goodvibes

Wine Country Trattoria is also a nice place to eat. While I've only ever been with my parents as a teen, DH and I plan to visit someday. I would think it would be better for a nice lunch, as California Adventure can sometimes close early during certain times of the year (as early as 6).

Any of the lounges are a perfect place to get away from the craziness - although I have seen kids in there.

DH and I just like walking around DTD late at night. One would think that kids would be in bed at a certain hour, but you'll still see strollers everywhere, even after midnight. Also in DTD, there are a few live groups playing music, saxophone, keyboard, violin and the UVA bar seems to be a popular spot for a nice drink. However, DTD is pretty loud and might be the completely opposite of romantic for some people.

If you are there during Fantasmic!, do the dessert seating as afterwards you can watch the fireworks from there as well. I think it costs like $60/person, but I've heard its really worth the view of Fastasmic! and not having to be in the crowds. Plus, because of the cost, I believe its mostly adults :confused3 It includes drinks and a dessert box of goodies too. Anyway, the fireworks and nightly entertainment make for some great romance too. And don't forget to take a picture in front of the castle at night :wizard:

DBF and I like to make wishes at the well when we go. Then sneak a kiss or two in there.

Fireworks and Fantasmic, when I took my big trip to Disney with my DBF those were our most magical moments him holding me while we watched the RDCT fireworks which was so much nostalgia and love I cried. And waiting for fantasmic to start playing with a glow toy I bought my sister :lovestruc

These are some great suggestions...thanks to everyone who has responded so far! Please keep them coming...and don't hesitate to mention something even if you think it is not a "typical" romantic moment....I'm well aware they come in all shapes and sizes!! :goodvibes

My Dh and I celebrated our 10th anniversary earlier this month in DL and it was very romantic.

We stayed at the Grand Cal and at reservation time I did tell them we were there for our 10th. As a result, in the evening they brought us chocolate covered strawberries, sparkling cider and while we were gone, left rose petals on our bed.

We had dinner at the Napa Rose which was a wonderful, amazing experience! I highly recommend it, especially with your little black dress.:woohoo:

The most romatic moment was watching the new fireworks show in front of Small World as it was the end to our little getaway and a great opportunity to hold hands and look up at the sky. Have fun!

My DH and I have been to DL about a dozen times over the last year and a half, and you almost stumped me with this question. We even went on our honeymoon! I guess we don’t go to DL to have a romantic experience, but then I remembered a few things. Mostly the same as posted above… really lovely moments during the fireworks. One time, we were near the back of the back, behind the castle and close to where they close Fantasyland. There were very few people back there, and we took our jackets and sat on the ground to watch the fireworks. It was wonderful. We also enjoy every dark ride, as that’s the only time I really let him kiss me at the park (I have this thing about kissing in front of kids, don’t ask me why!) On our honeymoon, we showed up to ride Star Tours really late, maybe 11:30 one night. The CM saw our honeymoon buttons, and shuffled us off to one side by ourselves. She let us have our own private Star Tour to Endor, and we loved every minute of it. Though that’s not something you can plan for! I guess my suggestion is to make every moment special in your own way, and let your whimsies decide what to do, not some master plan. I hope you enjoy yourselves, and make lots of memories.
