For the first time ever, my dh and I will be leaving our kids with my mom in the room and going out alone (!) :teeth: along with my brother and his wife. This is their very first time at Disney.

I want something a little romantic and thought about doing a world showcase ressie and then maybe watching illuminations afterwards. But it also sounds tempting to be able to show my brother and his wife another one of the resorts(we will be at Boardwalk). Maybe GF or WL.... :confused3

I need some advice, since we've never had the opportunity to frequent any of the more "adult" establishments, with the acception of Portobello Yacht Club, which we ate at on our honeymoon 13 years ago.

Oh, I almost forgot db's wife is sort of a picky eater...this makes it even harder!!

V&A is the top romantic spot, for sure.
But if $$ is an object, Citricos at the GF is vey nice and by WDW standards, pretty "quietly romantic".

my favorite restaurant is LeCellier at Epcot.....my opinion very romantic!!!!

My wife and I had a very romantic evening at Artist Point while on our honeymoon last September. We made a PS late in the evening to avoid the kids. It was quiet, kidless, and romantic. Very good food and a good wine selection.

Artist's point would be a good choice, but IMHO the two best choices for romantic evenings have to be venues where you can watch the MK fireworks. Either California Grill or Narcoossees offer the view, great food/service and a bill that isn't going to require an extra mortgage.

Wow,
what great responses! We have actually been to Le Cellier, and that is a definite possibiblity...Victoria and Alberts-its always been a dream of mine to go there, but there is no way we can dish out the $$$ required. I like the idea of going someplace where we can see the MK fireworks.

I also considered the restaurant in Mexico(cant remember the name)-its very romantic with the boat ride going through and the illusion of being outside at night...but I found the food to be lacking.

California Grill. If you want to see Wishes it doesn't get any better.

As usual Uncle Romulus hit it on the head.

DH and I dined at Citrico's Saturday night. We started with a bottle of Dom Perignon ($400 in expiring Disney Reward Dollars and the DDE card made this feasible!).

For appetizers we had the Onion Tart which was very good, however a bit salty for our tastes. The highlight of the meal was the other appetizer we shared, the sauteed shrimp appetizer. Utterly incredible with large prawns, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese in a white wine sauce with a hint of garlic.

Our entrees were the swordfish and the chicken with orzo. The swordfish was served with a vegatable pearl pasta which DH liked much more than he expected he would, and deemed the two items well paired. THe chicken was in the orzo with a tomotoe base. It was quite good as well, however not the best entree I've ever ahd at Citrico's.

Chef Grey also sent over a sampler of mashed potatoes, the oilive oil mashed we didn't much care for, the parsnip mashed were good but "average" and the corn and lobster mashed were sublime.

For dessert I had the tropical fruit Creme Brulee which had a hint pineapple, not overpowering at all, and a nice touch, and DH loved his Cinderellabration.

The meal with tax after DDE was $259.00. Our WONDERFUL server was Gwen, and we'll certainly request her again!

I am going with my other half with no children. I can tell what we have booked. 'Ohana with time to go to the beach afterwards to watch the fireworks with a cocktial. We are splurging for Victoria and Albert's and also have a ressie for Boma. Another place on the list, but not in WDW is Texas de Brazil.

My recomendations for a romantic dinner:

Citricos
California Grill
Jiko
(all have great food, service & location)

Other possibilities:

Artist Point (good, just not as good as the ones above. Romantic though)
Flying Fish (as good as those above. Not sure if as romantic as above)
V&A (would be in my top tier if not due to price sesitivity issues)
Yachtsman (great place for steaks and a better choice then Le Cellier)

To avoid:

Narcooses (not bad, just not as good as other options)
Le Cellier (Why go here when you can go to the Yachtsman)
Any WS or theme park restaurant (not that there aren't good choices, but run into more families and patrons in tank tops and sandles that detract from romantic atmosphere)
Any buffet (I like buffets especially Boma or Cape May. But buffet does not equal romantic)
Ohana (I like this place, but dozens of kids rolling coconuts on a hardwood floor is not my idea of romantic)
