Also, there is a singer who has great *mood* songs. Not steamy (sorry Snowwark), but more of a ballad singer whose voice really appeals to me. He recorded "Wind Beneath My Wings" before Bette Midler ever it and I love his version better. His name is Roger Whitaker and he is most famous for "The Last Farewell* and "Durham Town". Two of his songs that would fit this category are "What Love Is" and "Summer in The Country (New Love)".

I thought Roger Whitaker was best known for his late nite commercials on the B grade tv stations where they proclaim him the worlds most popular singer...

Ignore him Tulirose.........

Why Worry - Dire Straits

When A Man Loves A Woman - Percy Sledge

Uhhh.. I really hate to do this. . but I have to agree with Alex. .

Roger Whitaker was the subject of many late night commercials for his "Greatest Hits" collection.. I believe his claim to fame was that he sold more records then the Beatles in Nairobi or something like that. .

;)

:teeth:

Well, where was I during all these commercials? I would have bought the whole Kit and Kaboodle!!! Nairobi you say... well, he was born in Kenya I believe. Hey, I don't care (even though I feel as if I have been stabbed in the heart :( ). He has such an appealing maculine voice. AND HIS SONGS ARE ROMANTIC TO ME!! Which is the topic of this thread! So there!

:teeth:

Has anyone yet mentioned "Earth Angel"?

Hey Jude- The Beatles

You Send Me- Sam Cook

Aww Tulirose, if Roger Whitaker's songs are romantic to YOU, that's all that matters! :) What's with the men named Roger anyway?? ;) :)

You Send Me, that's a good one!! :)

Don't forget selections by Lionel Richey, maybe some Rod Stewart -- not "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" but something like "You're In My Heart".

Just please, no "I like my Women Just A Little On The Trashy Side":o

I'm not familiar with that song Girls Scout Leader, maybe that's a good thing?? ;) :D

Another oldie, but a goodie:

Slow Hand - The Pointer Sisters

It turns out Roger was really big in Germany! He even played at this famous event!
