My family, including my mom & stepdad, are going to WDW in Feb. I'd like to set up a nice, somewhat romantic, evening for my mom & stepdad. I was thinking a carriage ride - we'll be staying at POFQ... then they could take the ferry to DTD and eat at Fulton's?? We've never used the ferry before, and I'm worried about how cold it may be. Anyone have an experiance? Also, I don't want them to pay for anything. Is there a way for ME to pay for their meal w/o going there (I'm not certain, but heard Fulton's is NOT on the Dining Plan)? We have the Disney Dining Plan, so if anyone knows of a nice, somewhat quiet, romantic restaurant I can send them to, please let me know. Perhaps something at Animal Kingdom Lodge? - I mention that only b/c it's a beautiful resort and different. It's their first trip and I want it to be EXTRA magical. We've only been there once, so I am definately not an expert.

Thanks!

You will have to call ahead directly to the restaurant to arrange to pay for their meal. We did this with my in-laws. We sent them to the California Grill in the Contemporary Resort and scheduled the reservation during the Magic Kingdom fireworks. The Contemporary has a fireworks viewing platform and the music is piped in. My in-laws loved it.

Anyway, we called ahead and had the meal charged to our room. We didn't have the dining plan. You can probably call ahead and do something similar.

I've been on the boat from POFQ to DTD in January and it was a little chilly so just have them dress appropriately. Chilly isn't necessarily a bad thing - it certainly encourages you to snuggle up close together.

If you are looking for Animal Kingdom, Jiko - The Cooking Place is a Disney Signature restaurant, but your parents need to be somewhat open to trying new flavours. The menu can be found here:

We had a fantastic romantic evening at California Grill. We couldn't have asked for a better night.

One other idea that I have read about for a truly special romantic evening, you can book a private dinner. They will set up a table on your own somewhere very romantic and you have your own private butler for the evening. You pick the menu ahead of time too. It is a little more pricey but you can't beat that for romantic. I searched the boards for more info and founf this. I am tempted to book this myself for my DH and I next time we go!

Good luck and let us know what you choose!

DW and I had a beautiful, romantic dinner at Artist Pointe in the Wilderness Lodge in September.

Without my knowledge, my mother called ahead and told the resort that we were celebrating our anniversary. (She knew that we had dinner planned there for the night of our arrival)

They seated us in a corner by ouselves, gave us a free dessert, and had special menus made up wishing us a "Magical Anniversary", which we got to keep.

Beautiful resort, beautiful restaurant, and we felt very special.

Narccossees at the GF is a beautiful place to eat. Right along the water and overlooks Cinderella's Castle. Only downfall is that it is expensive and requires 2 points or credits on the Dining plan. It is my DH's and my favorite place to eat. $52 for surf and turf meal but worth it !! You can be dressed casual, but some do tend to dress nicer. Alot of honeymooners there. Also a fair share of kids, so not extremely quiet, but more reserved then some restauants.
Le Cellier in Canada is also nice. Low lighting and alot of wood and stone decor. Have really good salmon there, I never make it that tasty !!( we just had salmon for dinner tonight and I was reminising.)

More opinions on California Grill? It sounds nice, if I get them ressies during fireworks... but how crowded is it? After reading the review in the UnOfficial Guide, I want to eat there, too! lol!

Artist Point is also on the list. The setting alone sounds so nice! It's also somewhere we wouldn't normally go/see - Wilderness Lodge. Which is exactly what I want! I want them to see there's more to Disney than "just" the parks/kid stuff.
I'll have to look up Narcoossee's.

Thank you all!
