My husband and I have one night where the kids will be babysat by their grandparents. We want to go Pleasure Island after a nice dinner....not so pricey at Victoria & Alberts, but still fancy. We're staying at the Poly & will be there in Sept. Where should we go??

Thanks,
Pyedog

No place is as fancy as V&A. IMHO - I would suggest Bistro de Paris. I think this is very romantic and adult. You can walk over to the boardwalk after and then catch the bus to pleasure island. (Bus is not romantic!)

I also like CG but I don't think it is romantic - just really good food.

San Angel Inn in Mexico at EPCOT is my favorite choice for a romantic dinner. We had a reservation for 7pm and it was perfect timing to get us outside afterwards to view Illuminations. It can be crowded, but definately romantic and yummy, too.

i would suggest either the california grill (15th floor of the contemporary resort) or artist point (at the wilderness lodge). my husband and i have eaten at both and i think they are wonderful. they are both "very nice night out priced" but not expensive like victoria and alberts (love this place). anyway, if you plan it right (and they have the firewords at the Magic Kingdom that night) you can get a window seat at the california grill and watch the fireworks while having dinner. we did that and it was so romantic.:D

...I'd recommend either Wolfgang Puck's, or Portabello Yacht Club.

Further afield, the best food around The World is at JIKO, at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Incredible menu with tantalizing flavors you won't find anywhere else. (Tip: the steak with mac and cheese is TO DIE FOR.) And the resort itself is a stunner. Go at twilight, visit the animals out back, stroll around the lobby, then wander downstairs to the restaurant and chow down.

When you hit PI, be sure and visit the Comedy Warehouse. It's a hoot. :jester:

Also consider Narcoosee's at GF, I've never actually eaten there but my friends rave about it.

I agree on Jiko having the best food and service in the whole World. And strongly agree on the mac'n cheese.

However, there were LOTS of kids when I was there on Sunday night. Granted it was early(5:30-7:30), but I wouldn't have found it romantic in the least.

But I did love it!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

These all sound wonderful!! I will have to read up on each one, some I've never heard of before.

One question....Eeyore said CG was good but not romantic....what does CG stand for?

Thanks,
Pyedog

California Grill - the wine room can be more quiet and romantic - but Iwas once seated there (not by request) with my very loud and unromantic 3 yo. I felt bad for the others in the room! I do think it gets more adult later at night - but there are usually many kids there.

A window table at California Grill!!! Sophisticated elegance, a great view, but you will see people in "park"wear. Personally, I've never been bothered here by kids. If this is a concern, I bet a gentle request to the maitre'd would get you a table away from little ones.

Citricos at the GF is one of my favorites, great food, great atmosphere. Would also be very convenient if staying at the Poly. If the weather is nice, consider taking a pleasant evening stroll along the path between Poly and GF.

How about Palio's. I have always found this to be an excellent restaurant if you just want to enjoy a nice romantic meal.

If by romantice you mean "adult friendly" with a minimum # of kids, then I'd opt for Citrico's, Palio, or Bistro D' Paris.
That Wine Room at California Grill is relatively quiet, if you are able to be seated there.
Since you are going to the P.I. area anyway, how about Portobello Yacht Club??

For romance and EXCELLENT food:

1) Citricos - Grand Floridian
2) Artist point - Wilderness Lodge
3) Jiko - Animal Kingdom Lodge
4) California Grill - Contemporary

After reading this thread and a bunch of online menus, I'm leaning toward one of the Grand Floridian restaurants. the menus look fabulous, plus we can walk right over from the Poly.

Citricos appears more expensive than Narcoossee's....Is it also more adult? (fewer kids)?

Also...what kind of atmosphere in each? I saw one photo of a window view from Narcoossee's, but couldn't find other photos of either place.

Thanks Again...I'm already hungry!

Narcoosee's has high ceilings and lots of wood and windows. It sits almost over the 'lake'. Time it right and you can see the electrical water pagaent or fireworks from your table or the porch. Nice atmosphere but with the high ceilings, depending on the time of year, it can be noisy. We didn't see many children when we went, however, we are late eaters so most of the young ones are in the parks or bed by the time we eat.

As I recall the menu is seasonal based upon what was freshly available. Food is good, but noveau in style and the portions were adequate.

Took my mom on her last trip with us and she is not a gourmond....she's in the legions of older folks who is still upset that they closed Bill Knapps! She liked her meal (steak and fixings) even though it was 'fancy' but when her dessert came which consisted of fall harvest fruits and ice cream....she just didn't get it! I can still see her face after she bit into a baked cranberry.....think sour grapes!!!

Like the location, though, but still prefer California Grille for atmosphere and food. Can't get more romantic than a glass of champagne (with a strawberry) on the catwalk watching the fireworks (even with 100 of your closest friends)!

I'd recommend Citricos over Narcoossee's only because there will probably be far fewer children there. Both offer wonderful food, and impeccable service (at least in my experience), but Narcoosee's seems to draw more familys.

The view at Narcoosee's (overlooking the lagoon toward MK) is simply wonderful, but it can get a bit loud there at times.

Neither is a poor choice though! Enjoy!

glad to hear the CA Grille at the contemporary is a good one...the adults during our upcoming trip in october plan on making PS's for this one for our last night and shipping the 3 little ones off to the kids club at the resort for a few...i can't wait, i hope we get our PS's (i get to make them june 15 thru 20th)
