Roll in shower

We want to take up the free dining for next year at SSR. One of our party requires a roll in shower. I rang Disney who said the disabled rooms are held back for vacation club members. Will they be released before the 9th July cut off date. We are happy to have two smaller apartments or one bigger one. Any suggestions or should we just try another resort?

We are from the UK and I posted this there first. Any resort stand out for people with disabilities?

What the CM told you is not exactly correct.

SSR (Saratoga Springs) is one of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts. They are timeshares where members have points that are used to reserve rooms. The majority of the points are owned by members and rooms are available to members first. Disney owns a smaller number of points.

Disney can rent the points they own until all are used. The points that are owned by members can be rented by Disney at a certain point, but before that, only members can use them. That is points for any rooms, not just those with roll in showers.

What level of resort are you looking for and what size room?
Some people really like Port Orleans New Orleans because it is a smaller resort. We stayed there in January 2015 in a roll in shower room, which was very nice.
If you are looking for more of a suite type, many people like the family suites at Art of Animation or All Star Music

Thanks for your response. I have stayed at POFQ and liked it but I have stayed at various Value, moderate and deluxe Disney resorts and enjoyed them all. This is the first time we are travelling with a family member who is disabled and we need to look at things with fresh eyes so to speak. We like SSR but also AkL but would our previous opinion change if we viewed the resorts from a wheelchair?
