Rogers Centre parking

LSmith ham ham thinks were gonna scrap it out he want front seats lol. Sorry ham ham not gonna happen we are just explaing our points. No scrap here.

I believe the term is "stirring the pot".

Speaking of pot, I guess you're right Thumper. U2 isn't quite the same drinking crowd that the sports games have.

We're going on Wednesday too! Didn't realize so many Dis folk were also U2 fans - man, we have great taste!

We'll be coming from Oakville and, for what it's worth, we still haven't decided whether we'll drive in or take the train. For us, the train is a great convenience and worth the price to get there - but with our luck we'll miss a train coming back and have to sit at Union for an hour waiting for the next one....hate that!

Roll call...how many going to the U2 concert?
We'll be there - kids included! It's their first concert (I'm bringing earplugs for them in case the sound is too loud). I've always told them the only U2 tours I have missed since 83 were October 97 and May 01 - their birth months - so this time we'll go together! (yes they are 11 and 8 - young for concerts but we have amazing seats so they won't have to stand on the crowded floor)

Can't wait!!

Hello neigbour. Not often do you find someone from the same town. This will be our kids second concert. We took them to Duran Duran last year. Our kids are 11 and 8. We are also bringing earplugs The show should be awesome. 7 pm show so that means 5.30 train from oakville for us. We got good seats not the best but good in section 118. This is going to be fun.

I dont even remember if the taps are open at Rogers center during concerts. Either way it should be fun.

Rogers Centre serves alcohol at concerts but you can't take your drink to to your seat if you have floor seating. You can buy it on the concourse level and drink it there.

If you are sitting in the regular seats you can bring your drink to your seat.

Occasionally Rogers Centre is fined and loses their liquor license for a game or two (including concerts). This would be the only time liquor is not served.

Cheers.

Ah ok thanks.I rairly bought anything from them because of the cost. Beer was always so expensive. But then again so is everything else.

Leaf game too lmao Man now that will be both a traffic jam if they end at the same time and the ride home on the train will be a smelly zoo. Lets hope the leaf croud get out early enough to catch a earlier train and clear out of the parking lots before the consert does.

So we ended up driving after all. It took us just under an hour to get there so I thought leaving would be a nightmare. Nope - not too bad. We were home by 12:15 - worst traffic was directly around Rogers Centre but once we were on the Gardiner it was clear sailing (or driving...)
Here's a link to my pics on the U2 thread....

Awesome pics.....

Thanks for all the suggestions. We ended up driving there with no traffic problems. We did get mixed up right around the stadium and ended up parking at the convention center. This was just across the street from the gate we had to go in. Got out after the show quickly with no problems. It was a great show!!

Glad to hear you guys didn't have a problem with traffic. We came from Waterloo (along with 25000 other RIM employees who had free tickets!) and it was a nightmare! Took us 3.5 hrs to get to Toronto, and then 2 hrs home. Construction on the 401 at night makes it back up for miles. Our charter bus driver was smart and bypassed the highways until well past Milton, which is the only reason we got home in 2 hrs. Other people we talked to stayed on the 401 and it took them 3 hrs!

Regardless of traffic nightmares, U2 were awesome! And having the roof open on the dome made it even better IMHO. I enjoyed this concert even more than the Vertigo tour a few years back.

I agree the show was awesome. Im glad it all worked out for you out of towners. We took the train. On our way home we were in the second from the front car. There were a few people standing. We were in section 116 row 29 about 5 oclock. I loved the fact the dome was open. We could see alot of people in the upper floors of the apartment building snapping pictures throughout the show.

Loved the concert but not the crowd so much, a little reserved. the stage was awesome as the band. First image was Snow Patrol second was the boys

So that explains the mass amount of people around us that all seemed to be together! They were big groups too - 20-30 people - so we thought for sure they were some corporate groups. Everyone around us all seemed to know each other - there were guys in suits that looked really out of place - and my youngest commented that there was a definite lack of hair on the heads of all the guys in front of us - :rolleyes1 I think he was commenting that there were a lot of old people there :rotfl:
Caught this as an example:

DreamerAl - you snapped us in your first pic! If you look at the section furthest on the right and closest to the floor we're there! section 113a.
Love your pics! Glad everyone had fun!

Thumper_ehhh - what time did you end up getting home? Just thought I'd compare since were both in Oakville. We were in the door at 12:15.

The train pulled into Oakville around 12.25am. We had a extended stop at long branch. People pressing the emergency strip. 12.15 home is great. I didnt think the drive home would be bad it was the drive in. My wife got home around 5 so the 5.30 train was our only safe option for making the opening act. What sucked about the whole thing was my wife and kids got to go home to bed. I had to goto work until 7 am on top of that lol. Well worth it though.

Yeah, that might have been due to over 1/3 of the crowd going mainly because they got free tickets. I wonder what the Thursday concert would have been like. No one in our section even stood up at all (which was great for me because I am so short :rotfl:) And with so many blackberry users in such close proximity, the network totally overloaded!
2 years ago when RIM got Van Halen to do a private show at the ACC, it was only half full and the energy level of the crowd just wasn't there. The band was great, but an excited crowd does add a lot.
Glad to hear everyone enjoyed the show! We had great seats, and I was so glad I brought my good camera!
