It only took 10 days for Disney to exercise its right of first refusal on a 50 point VWL contract ($87 a point), we were trying to purchase. This would have been our first contract. Although disappointed we've already bid on another larger (100 point @ BWV) contract through the TTS. We've got our fingers crossed....again...

I've got my fingers crossed, my thumbs pressed together and am going to say my special prayer to the :worship: "Disney Gods"! I don't know if it helps or not, but alot of board members swear by it!

Thanks for trying again. We really do appreciate your doing business with us!

Sincerely,
Tom :sunny:

I felt bad for you, I think that was the contract we were selling. I know they say the seller still gets their money but it would have been nice after going through everything for a person to get the points.

Spitlerbw is my co-worker, and I rave so much about DVC it crushed me as well to see that Disney sniped it up... I hope their 2nd try goes much better! I'm not sure, but sometimes I worry more about it that he does... I'm just excited to get a fellow DVC member here at work... I'm working on another one of our co-workers as well... :) TTS any job openings!! ;)

Later,
Mark

i think disney does rofr more often on small contracts. think about all the extras you get for being dvc members. for a 50 point contract you will be paying right now under 250 dollars for annual dues. if you get the annual pass you save 100 dollars per person. so i can see why disney does rofr more often on small contracts.

I did a little research on buying sold out resorts direct from Disney vs. a reseller. The break even point on buying for VWL points through a reseller like TTS vs. buying from Disney is somewhere around $85 and $86. And when I checked into it, my guide told me they had about 2000 VWL points currently available.

Did the contract have a lot of banked points?

Quick responses and feedback, I love this board! The contract had 50 banked points.

We just had a VWL contract pass ROFR.

details: 170 points @ $86 a point with 334 points banked (2004 and 2005), empty on 2006 points and no dues til 2007. Kinda complicated on the points and since its an August contract, when we close in February, I will have to make a move quickly on the 2004 points as there is only a 4 month window to use them.

Sorry to hear it, but I guess there's always a silver lining...in the end you'll appreciate those extra points! :earsboy:

Wishing you all the best on the new contract....

...$86 a point....jeez....i could sell now and actually make a profit. Who knows what it'll be if I sell be the 7 month window for December. I never would have thought the price would jump so high for resale.

on just the small contracts - not the big ones.

I do have several small contracts..... :)

of course I had better decide shortly to sell - I don't know how long DVC will continue to do this....

That was our contract we were selling. I just looked at our contract. I know the disappointment you must of felt because we are trying to sell another contract, someone says they want it, then they back out, then another wants and they back out.....Sorry again.
