Roethlisberger admits: 'I don't think I got in'

I know how! TRAINING!!! If they were full time employees you could run them through plays time after time after time. Would they get it perfect? No but consistency should improve a great deal. I think everyone understands they can't be perfect but they should get it right most of the time.
They should be running through plays time and time again, even if they are part-time. If they are not trained well enough to be refs of a pro game, they should not be on the field.

But to say the win is tainted is really not being fair and it's not fair to the Steelers.

Sorry , but that's the way it is.

Hopefully, if the NFL takes it seriously, SBXL will be seen as the peak of a year full of terrible calls. It will not be just the Hawks, it will be every team that wathced it and went, crap, that could have been us and it stinks.

Would be the same situation had the Hawks won, some of the bad calls were against the Steelers, and all the bad calls would have still been bad calls.

I don't think anyone is against discussing how the officiating can be improved for the future.

I know at least some have. And when people have, others have responded like it was another case of sour grapes. All but saying there isn't anything to fix.

I heard an interesting comment this morning from Mel Kiper Jr. on ESPN radio (it's far more than just Hawks fans keeping this going). He believes that if they get rid of instand replay it will improve things. The refs will feel less pressure and focus more on calling the game without the fear of being shown up by the "tape". interesing idea, one I will be thinking about as the MEDIA keeps this going through next year.

Which calls in particular are the ones people have the problem with here, just for the record?

That's been done and I'm not willing to go through the line again. I'll just say that you have look at the calls that were not made, not just the questionable ones that were.

That's an interesting idea. The idea of the replay is to keep them honest. Maybe they should review ALL calls on it or none at all.

I understand, and I have to be honest...I wasn't looking for calls not being made. Not just for my favor, but either way I am usually not one who can point out what went wrong when it wasn't called. I am usually not watching every little nuance.

When all is said and done, I want a fair game. That is the bottom line. I do get tired of the bashing, from either side.

As the only one who directly responded to Alex's post, I would like to remind you that I have not called anyone here any names. If you have a problem with any posts, feel free to report it.

And he is right, it's how you say things. Alex kept it to the refs instead of making it personal about the team, the fans or the city.

I don't think anyone is against discussing how the officiating can be improved for the future.
PW I have not said anything about steeler fans the city or bad about any steelers players
I have just said that the calls were wrong, the game was effected, and it is tainted. Even when saying it nice i was shouted back and called names which only increased my defensiveness about it. GO back and check out the original threads RIGHT after the superbowl. I dont bother with reporting posts noting ever happens with that in my experience but i have not done ANY name calling at all.

a) Please note that I did not say that YOU did anything, I was speaking in general. I was actually thinking more about the poster who referred to our team and city as "Pittspuke" ( I apolgize for not being more clear, the first part of my post was the only part directly talking to you)

b) I do not know why you would expect people who are in celebration to welcome your negative viewpoint on a thread dedicated to cheering on our team. You wouldn't let it go there and that is why you got shouted at.

c) I have no problem with your argument, I just disagree with much of it. Nuff said.

I think fans from both sides can say that neither team played their best game Sunday. Neither team was 100% there. The game is over, its done with. There were bad calls made during the game. There were bad calls made all season. There will be calls made in EVERY game that has somebody upset. And sometimes, it costs a team the game. I just think that we need to forget this the bad calls and enjoy the win or think about how your team can win next year. The one thing that I have a problem with is the way Seattle's coach handled it. That was very unsportsmanlike. Yes, he did not like the calls. But one thing that I think alot of people are forgetting is that there is always next season.

And one more thing, someone said that we, Steelers fans, aren't being gracious. I don't think thats the case at all. We are celebrating our teams win. Thats it. If we wanted to be sore winners, we would rub it in your face saying "HAHA, your team lost!!!! Our team won!!! Woohoo" And possibly do a little dance in there. Watching the news coverage in Pittsburgh, there has been nothing said at all about Seattle. It has all been "We're proud of the Steelers" and "We support our team." Don't tell me that is very unsportsmanlike. Any team would be doing the same thing. Pittsburgh fans are just insane about it. What other team has a turn out of 30,000 at a pep rally a week before the game and 250,000 at the parade afterwards?

I am not a die-hard Steelers fan by any means. The Super bowl was the first footbal game I ever watched, which is pretty said being that I am in my school's marching band and had to go to EVERY SINGLE one of our HS football games. My friends were shocked when I told them I watched the Super Bowl. They nearly fainted when I told them that I actually enjoyed it! You will not catch me saying "good game" to any Seattle fans, though. Why? Because it wasn't a good game. As I said before, neither team did their best and neither team was there 100%.
