***ROCKSTAR: Supernova*** (spoilers welcome)

Been looking for the spoilers from Dturner? I will feel better if I know my favorites are not leaving tonight :sunny:

Here's tonight's song choices. highlight below

Magni: Back in the U.S.S.R. (The Beatles)
When the Time Comes (original)

Storm: Suffragette City (David Bowie)
Ladylike (original)

Lukas: Livin’ On a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
Headspin (original)

Toby: Mr. Brightside (The Killers)
Throw It Away (original)

Dilana: Behind Blue Eyes (The Who)
Supersoul (original)

I picked up a couple of interesting comments Gilby made on the 30 minute inside the mansion show last night.

With regards to Lukas, he said that Lukas came in with what he expected and that Lukas feel that he can work through anythnig that he comes up against. He then went on to say that Lukas' only competition is Lukas himself.

With Dilana and her lacklustre song writing ability, he commented that he you can write songs, why would he want you in his band.

He was also pretty gaga about Toby but I have always felt that personally he likes Toby best.

Elimination spoilers are tomorrow afternoon silly!!! :rotfl:

I do know the spoilers for the performance tonight - seems everyone did a good job except Dilana - she pulled a muscle during rehersals and has to be carried out onto the stage by bodyguards for her performance tonight.

GO LUKAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

I thought he meant that Lukas always felt that, and that is what gives him an edge. He does not worry or concern himself with the others he just worries about Lukas. And his concern is only about his own performance.

Kae

just watched the youtube video...are dilanas tatoos real? in the videos she doesnt have any... do you think it might be an upset this week and get rid of dilana?? i really thought that it was storms turn lst week..maybe shes the darkhorse!

Here is a review from someone that was at the performance taping on Sunday:

First up Dilana
This week I saw a change in Dilana, besides the obvious injury and being carried to the stage by a big burly guard. Dilana’s has never sounded better and the band was quick to point out that they liked how Dilana changed it up and showed her softer voice. Before Dilana started her original song she stopped and because of a lighting problem. From where I was standing Tommy Lee looked slightly annoyed. He quipped to Dilana that the show must go on and she needed to entertain us. Dilana replied that this was a TV show and **** happens and that something happened with the lighting. Tommy again said something along the lines about this being Rock and roll and that she need to entertain us I think that Storm yelled something out to Dilana and then Dilana broke out into song.

Shortly there after Dilana started her Original song. I thought that it was a rocking song but it didn’t have anything that I could sink my teeth into. The back and forth banter was different than what I have seen on TV with Dave Navarrow and Supernova. They were kind to her but it just seemed different. Dilana seemed like she was preparing herself for a life without being the lead singer of Supernova. She talked about “if I don’t win” stuff. [I am not great at direct quotes because I did not take notes.] But that is the vibe that I got. She also came across to me as being defensive to Supernova, again just a vibe I got. The crowd in the front half of the studio was really into this performance but the back half didn’t seem to be as into it. I was standing in the back on the floor so I could see the movement and energy of the crowd. Personally this performance was not my favorite of Dilana’s and yet it was such and honor to be seeing her sing live

Magni
. I really love Magni and yet seeing him live I came away with a slightly different impression. This man delivered another solid performance, his vocals were spot on he really crushed his performance and the banter back and forth with the band, very funny. The problem that I have with Magni after seeing him live is that he just doesn’t seem to reach out to connect with crowd. He paces back and forth on the catwalk and plays a lot to the House band. Dave mentioned that Magni really looked good with the house band. I wondered when Dave said that if he was telling us that Magni may be the new lead singer of the House band or be playing with the house band on New Years Eve? That is just the reality detective in me. I just wondered why Dave went on about that? I personally think that Magni would be a perfect fit for the house band. This is not a slight on Mags who I love because I adore the House band as well. From standing in the back and soaking it all in it looked and sounded like Magni had about the same reception as Dilana.

Storm
This is the moment that a lot of Storm fans have been waiting for. The day of Storm fans pimping Youtube links is OVER!!!! Storm brought it bigger then I could have ever hoped. She came out and I said to Soh Hell Yeah! Storm looked amazing in a riding type jacket that was perfectly fitted, thank god. Those boxy jackets from the past were killing me. She came out and Dave said hey Storm I really like this song do you mind if I join you? She didn’t miss a beat “hell yeah!!!” Dave and Storm looked so good together on stage The crowd was completely into it and I was besides myself with glee, this was Storm’s moment. Dave hopped off the stage and joined Storm. Dave and Storm looked good together. Both kicked it into high gear and got the crowd going. Dave jumped off the stage and Storm started into her original. I love this song [it is on my myspace front page], and seeing it performed live. The crowd was singing and totally eating out of the palm of Storm’s hand. I looked back at Supernova and they were rocking out Tommy Lee was singing along as well. Storm was so passionate and comfortable singing her own song she commanded the stage like a Rock freaking Star Goddess. For me it is nice to see someone who has been so good to everyone and so talented get this break.

I witnessed the birth of a Star right before my eyes. Storms Reality Peak came at exactly the right time because I believe that she will make it to the finals. I also told her peeps that they better be ready because “its on” that song it going to catapult Storm and the Balls in one quick swoop. The comments from the band were ALL positive. Dave said that was the best Original that he has seen on both seasons and that he hoped that he would get to play next time with Storm on her original. He loved it [tongue bath]. That he [Dave] had played with a lot of famous front people and playing with Storm was what it felt like. Dave also requested to play with Storm next time on her original. I was able to give Dave love for that comment. Lol. The SN boys also loved it and had any great things to say about Storm. I had goose
bumps from head to toe. This performance for me was the best of the season and compares to some of my favs from the best last year. I was proud to watching Storm standing there so tall and strong, accepting of all outcomes doing what she has done all season supporting her friends never lowering herself to the drama. I was a proud fan in a pool of musical drool. I think I repeated the same sentances over and over and for that my LA friends I am sorry.

Lukas
I was very high by this point in the show and I was also excited to see Lukas live and in person. Lukas brought it again this week and he showed SN that he could change things up and rearrange a Bon Jovi song. Lukas performance stated out slow but picked up steam and put the final nail in any doubt in my mind that Lukas will be the winner of SN. The comments from Tommy confirmed it. Who is not going to give Tommy his dream of a guy that sounds and looks like Lukas fronting his band? The back peddling was even more obvious, in my mind it was comical I bet Tommy got a spanking from MBP yesterday for letting the cat out of the bag. When Tommy told Lukas that he was his dream front man the look on Lukas face melted my heart into a puddle. He was truly humbled and filled with emotion. I really don’t care if Tommy let the cat out of the bag it was great being witness to such affection from Lukas, he looked vulnerable for the first time that I have seen on the show. Lukas has great stage presence and brought it vocally.

Toby
Toby’s vocals were amazing this guy is in shape. SN really likes Toby and he got a nice tongue bath as well with Praise I was cheering him on for the distance he has come in these short weeks. Toby is a different performer he really took to heart the advice he was given and used it to be a riveting performer. Toby is just a fun loving nice guy and it shows through in this weeks performances. At this point in the competition Toby is my second favorite and so I was again looking forward to seeing what he would bring. Toby’s set was great but for me he didn’t bring anything that we haven’t seen in the past. I liked his performance of his original it was very fun and had everything it needs to be a hit. The hook was awesome, it was stuck in my head for a while.

It must come across very differently in person as opposed to the televised version. Lukas sounds like he's trying (unsuccessfully) to have a BM. All that mumbling, moaning, and groaning. Someone get that boy a laxative--STAT!

Yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me! What the heck was Brooke wearing, all I could think of was an escapee from POC. Loved Toby and Storm, I hope they both go to the finals, and I think Dilana's days are numbered. Didn't think I'd ever say that just two weeks ago. ;)

dturner I couldn't DISAGREE with you more...but we'll get to that in a moment ;-)

Dilana not only hurt her leg, but she shot herself in the foot tonight. Both songs were weak and uninspired. I totally agreed with Gilby that her original lyrics were so literal it was annoying! I think this whole experience has really taken it's toll on her. My feeling is that she's gone tomorrow night....

Magni...I didn;t LOVE Back in teh USSR. I liked it, but the first half was a little soft vocally. The second half he finally gritted it up and got into it, but not my favorite performance of his. His original song was rockin! I love his look, I love his sound...heck I just love him!

Storm, where have you been hiding ALL THAT????????? You rocked the M-F'in house lady! Wow. I loved every second of her original song. Welcome to the finals.

Toby...what;s not to love? His enthusiasm is infectious, and his vocals spot on. He had the crowd from the first line. I can see him fronting the band now.

Lukas. I HATED every growling, unintelligible, I'm-swatting-away-a-swarm-of-Africanized-bees moment in BOTH songs. How do you ruin Livin on a Prayer? You let Lukas sing it. And I use the term "sing" loosely. I know the entire song by heart...she's a classic...and he made it impossible to understand. Horrid (where's Simon Cowell when you need him). His other song was a waste of air-time. Boring lyrics, unimaginative, just ewwwwwwwwww.

Luckily for Lukas, Dilana is in the you-suck spotlight and Lukas has a broader fan base. So he'll stick around (just to annoy me no doubt), while she'll likely get the hatchet tomorrow. Man, after watching Lukas "sing" and compared to the others I HAVE to ask HOW does he have one single fan? How does anyone see him as a talent?

Anyway, enough ofmy Lukas bashing. Did you guys see Tommy bump fists with Dave after after toby sang? Methinks he's got a new favorite.... Can't blame him. With Toby fronting they'll get a TON of chicks. Tonight was also the real first time I could see Storm possibly in the front (it won't happen but I can envision it).

Supernova...are you listening?? I'll take anyone but Lukas at this point!

Hey I'm Cheryl too.........and quite honestly no matter what the band said......I thought he murdered the BonJovi song, and I couldn't understand a thing that came out of that mike, along with his original, how many different words were in it? he just keep repeating. I thought he totally sucked and no way in H would I buy a CD if he were the lead singer.
Loved Magni, Loved Toby and have to say Storm was good this week as well, although it looks like Dave Navarro is really hooked on her as well ;)

I totally agree, with the exception of Magni. I liked Back in the USSR, however I thought he needed to move a bit more and interact more with the crowd, otherwise I say right on!

OMG He was Perfect tonight..... he really is a great front man ... are some others a bit more talented perhaps??.... well yes, but he has the whole package, he is like-able, adorable, and fun... did I mention adorable ??? Now that Ryan is gone all my votes to Toby!! :thumbsup2

Dilana: What a train wreck all of a sudden

Storm: GREAT She rocked the house

Magni : Beatles tune.. boring, original, good song

Lukas, Iliked the Bon Jovi thing ...the look however a bit "Beatlejuice" for me

I'm with you. DH (a massive Beatles connouseiur...boy did I butcher that word!) really liked Magni's version. I liked it as well...more from about halfway through it. the first half had me a little worried. I too want him to play to the crowd a bit more.

My opinions-

The good-

Toby- I liked Mr. Brighthouse but I thought Marty's version last year blew Toby's away. Loved his original, the best original tonight by far.

Storm- I thought she did a great job tonight, I didn't really like her original but I thought her performance of it was great.

Dilana- I really liked her first performance.

The OK-

Dilana's original- It was OK but definitely not even close to great.

Magni- I liked both his performances but something felt like it was missing.

The bad-

Lukas- I really hated his version of Living on a Prayer, I thought it was horrible. I wasn't a fan of his original either. I'll have no interest in the band if he's the singer.

Side note-I don't think a girl stands a chance of winning this thing.

My rankings for tonight-

1-Toby by far

2-Storm

3- Magni

4- Dilana

5- Lukas

Thanks for the analysis of the show! I missed it last night because of a phone call, so I'll have to see if it ended up recording. I do know that when DH walked in he said, "Lucas sounds like he's trying to take a..." bowel movement. :rotfl2:

Has anyone seen news about Dilana overdosing last night?
