Our family had a great Disney trip in mid October! One of our favorite rides is RNRC at MGM. On our first ride of RNRC on a particular day, we were seated in the first car. It was a great experience and we all jumped off at the end wanting to ride it again. Later in the day, we did and we were seated in the last car---last four seats. This time RNRC was almost unbearable for each of us. We got knocked around so much---my head just kept beating against the headrest. I couldn't wait for the ride to be over! We got off the ride---each saying never again in the back seat! Has anyone had a similiar experience?

I have had a similar experience on that ride but no where near as bad as Space Mountain. Last time I rode in the back. NEVER NEVER again. I couldn't remember if it was the ride or if I am just getting old.

Rode it many times but always try to go to the front---can't say I ever had the last car in the back---maybe second to last and almost lost my water bottle w/ lanyard!!! Very cool ride---I would say a must ride! But then again if it's a coaster I'm on it :thumbsup2

One of my favorite rides! We always seem to be seated in the front. Now I know never to sit in the back, thank you.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me last week.

DD13, DS 10 & I usually love this ride but were in the back for the first time on Thursday. I was in the very back seat and the children were in front of me. The pain at the back of my head started as soon as the car pulled away - I've neve felt such excrutiating pain in my head!

I felt very, very woosy, as did the children.

So......don't sit in the back!

I've never found the back to be that bumpy or whiplashy (I know, that's not close to be a word). In my experience, I've found the first car to be intense and the cars behind it to be all the same experience but a step below the first car.

The back cars of a rollercoaster are always more "intense" than the front cars. There's more momentum in the back.

That being said, I've (just my opinion) always found RNR to be a very mild rollercoaster. If you think it is intense, stay away from the big rides at a park like Cedar Point...your head will fly off!!! Of course, as I age, I find rides I used to find easy...more intense!

:thumbsup2

I've noticed a difference in RnR as it gets older. The ride used to seem MUCH smoother. But you'll always get whipped around more in the back. I've always taken the advice to keep your head firmly against the headrest during the launch....it keeps your head from slamming back into the seat when you take off.

Space Mountain can be brutal in the back seat...pulled a muscle in my neck on that one once. Its much worse than RnR, even though its a tamer ride in general.

I agree, the ride used to be smoother.

But as on all roller coasters, the back seat will always be the bumpiest and fastest. This is because it is basically "following" the front of the coaster, and on the drops and corkscrews, the weight of the coaster basically "whips" the back over the curves and corkscrews. On other theme park roller coasters (ones with a lift and a drop), this is much more evident. Hope this helped! :thumbsup2

you are so right. rnr is super smooth in front and rough in back.

RnR is my favorite ride, and I will always hang back just to ride the last car. I enjoy the last car better than any other position. The ride for me is more intense and much faster than the front car.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm glad to know others had similiar experiences. I was beginning to think it was just because I am getting older. :ssst: So glad that is only part of it! Rnr is one of my favorite rides---love it, but now look for me in the front seat!

So if our turn comes up & we are supposed to be seated in the back we can ask to wait another ride & sit up closer? I don't have to be the first car, but I like to be closer to the front!

LoL. We request the back on Space Mountain! We think the front is boring! :lmao: But I have had similar experiences on RnR. I actually experienced the most "head banging" in the middle of the ride. DF and I are used to sitting in the back of most coasters because we feel you get the most "pull." The front is always smooth because you're leading everyone, but yeah, the middle was the worst for us. :)

correct, you can choose to ride the next car to obtain a different seating position. you can also switch with others to change seats rather than wait for the next ride. The same works for the front car, some don't watn to ride the front car, so they can switch with other riders also, I'm sure the people in the second seat would jump at the chance to ride the front. Enjoy the ride whichever seat you choose.

I've been on RNR 21 times in the last four years, and never had a bad experiance. I've sat almost everywhere on it, too.
