rocket rods - are they gone?

haven't been to disneyland for about a year and a half - went to wdw instead

i heard the rocket rods were gone - what happened and what is replacing them

any help would be appreciated

Hi there! Rocket Rods are dead and gone! They lasted only a short while -- heard rumors they were just too much for the old People Mover track areas. Unfortunately they have not done ANYTHING to replace it! Tomorrowland is a very sad place right now if you ask me -- to many empty buildings and wasted space!

Rocket Rods has been gone for some time now. Two years ago we were told by a cast memeber that the closure was permanent due to its poor reliability. DL was looking into replacing it with a ride where you would laser shoot targets as your rode in a bus/car, somewhat like Buzz Lightyear at WDW/MK. Even then, they indicated that a replacement was a couple of years down the road due to other priorities. Plans for the ride could certainly have changed since we got that information.
