We will be at Disney for the first time with our four kids and five of us wear glasses. We all have safety straps, the kind that clip on your glasses and pass behind your heads. Do we need to take our glasses off for this ride, or any others? I am loathe to do that because of all the detail in the rides which we would miss. Any hints, suggestions or absolutlies???

I wear my glasses on this ride, I have a string with loops on the ends that hook onto the back of your glasses (with a Mickey head on the loops, I got it at MouseGears). Also wear it on Space Mountain. I can't see 2 feet in front of me without glasses, so I want to wear them.

The first time I rode RnRC, I was so afraid that my glasses were going to fall off, I held them on my face even though I had a strap on. The second time I rode, I took them off, and enjoyed it more because I wasn't worrying about them falling off.

The only ride I felt like this with was the RnRC. Everything else was alright. I didn't feel like I missed much w/o glasses at the RnRC, because it's pretty dark anyway.

You should be OK with the strap, as long as it's pretty tight around your head.

I hope you all have a great trip! Don't miss RnRC by any means. It's my favorite ride at WDW :earsboy:

I always wear my glasses on all the rides - sometimes with safety strap, sometimes without. You'll be fine with the safety strap. The last time I rode RnR I forgot my strap wasn't in place and my glasses stayed on.

another vote for leaving them on. i tend to take off my glasses on most roller coasters (i'm crazy scared they'd fall off), but for some reason, i decided to leave them on for this one. no problems at all. and i agree about missing the details. i can't see anything without my glasses, so i always feel like i'm missing something when i take them off for a ride.

I went to Disney the first 6 time I believe with glasses and rode them on everything without a strap. No promises because I was younger and so harnesses fit me different then it would the average adult but...

You don't need to worry about your glasses....if anything they're pushed against your face more :)

QuickGold is on to the secret...

As long as you keep facing forward the wind will push your glasses firmly onto your face. I've worn my glasses on every high speed attraction multiple times with no problems or close calls. Here's what I do:

1) Face forward, don't look to the sides.
2) Keep my hands away from my face as well as the hands of those next to me. I realized that trying to "hold" my glasses on with my hands actually put them at risk. If the car rocks to one side, your hands will often want to continue in a straight line and you risk jerking your glasses off in the process.
3) Keep my head from flopping from side-to-side and banging into shoulder restraints.

I wear my glasses on everything...without a strap...the only time I have ever had a problem was sitting in the very last row on RnRC....talk about pain!! I will never do that again....my head was going everywhere and my glasses were digging into my face....so I suggest not sitting in the last row....it hurts!!!

I've never had a problem with my glasses on any of the rides, I stopped wearing the eyeglass strap. I even wore them all day at Blizzard Beach on the slides. I'm blind as a bat without them. As a precaution I always have an extra pair though.

I always wear my glasses/sunglasses, without a strap, and have not had a problem on any roller coaster. If I didn't wear them I wouldn't enjoy the ride because I couldn't see what's going on around me.

Ah, I remember those days about worrying will my glasses fall off, or how wet they would get on a water ride.
Don't have to be concerned anymore about that, because my glasses are my contacts now! ::yes:: :teeth:

Geez... all these brave folks riding RnR with their glasses...you've almost inspired me to leave them on when we go in June this year! Notice I said.... "almost" ;)

:bounce: Oh, I love this ride and would never go without my glasses because then i couldn't see anything. We rode it 8 times and didn't have a problem with the glasses, but my elbow was bruised from pressing so hard. LOL Just be sure and get your glasses tightenung before you leave. :Pinkbounc

I have to say that I never ride roller coasters as a rule, but I did R+R coaster in October and it never occurred to me to take my glasses off.

Never gave it a thought until I read this question!
