Rock Climbing

Just practice, like start with 20 seconds, then when you master that go on to 30 and so on

i love rock climbing. i started when i was about 12. it hasnt been that long(3 years) but, its alot of fun. i started on a rockwall and the next day we were on the actual rocks. personally i think that climbing the actual rocks is easier than at a rock gym. cuz you can find your own foot and hand holds on a rock but you have to use what they give you in a gym.

Hum, i think i will like Mt. Everest better, lol

I found out that I will probably be joining a rock climbing team

I saw the place that we Rock Climb, it is soooooooooooooooo cool

You did? Has anyone been on a rock climbing team? We plan to join one

We have horizontal climbing wall at my school. It's a blast. We're working on getting a vertical one. I love climbling but there aren't any places around here to do it :confused3

Part of the price you pay when you go to a rock climbing gym includes the equipment. Depending upon where you go you may or may not get shoes so wear sneakers. As far as the harness around your body and ropes go those are already attached to the rocks for you and are included.

A free rock climbing wall is at the sports store Gaylans. Or at least by us there is a 50 foot rock wall inside this sports store. Like a grocery store bonus card you can sign up for a bonus card for the sports store (its free) and then rock climbing is free. For others without the bonus card I think it's like $3.

Most people tend to prefer climbing actual rocks as opposed to the artificial ones in gym. The environment is a lot better but honestly, I grew up climbing real rocks and had I started out in a gym I would have advanced a lot more quickly. If you fall at the gym your less likely to get scraped up then you woud on a real rock (even with ropes) so you can easily get back up, or swing back onto the wall, and try it again until you get the technique down. There are different levels of difficulty for the artificial walls that you can climb. Each place is different, but for instance, Gaylans has 4 levels. Even their easiest level takes me a bit to get up without falling. As you go up in the levels the handholds become harder and harder to find.

this is exactly why i hate going to gyms, cuz there are the peggy things there, you just cant put your feet on them or you cant hold on to them. and on rocks, it doesnt matter where you put your feet or hands, it may be the same difficulty but it seems easier to me on rocks.

I have been to the place I am going before. It was my older sisters birthday, she was about 9 and I was 7. I was scared to death :earboy2: . But now, I have had a odd unexpected crave to rock climb. Probably because I have been reading about Mt. Everest and climbing things. So, my dad looked into it and saw that they had a rock climbing team, where they go out and climb and real rocks, do competitions, things like that.

Has anybody here joined a rock climbing team? Please tell me if you have.

Hay Elyse, it that the place with the wall that goes like upside down? And like rocks cover the entire room? 'cuse if it is, then I have been there.
