Rock Chalk Jayhawks and 6 nights at the CSR...

Dance teacher at a public school.....
I'm curious.
We don't have them here in Kansas, that I know of.
I just teach plain old second grade. We dance a little in class, nothing fancy though!
Do you teach in a high school?

I think the only ride we rode at Magic Kingdom this trip was Haunted Mansion. I remember this because my dh dropped my iPhone and shattered the screen out by the statues.

Loving your report, so many details!

Oh and my 13 year old son needs a padded room to watch a KU game. He is just a mess!!!

I am very lucky. I started teaching at our high school 19 years ago and I taught social studies and did dance on the side. But I had a teaching degree so I proposed a program and we are one ofbthe very few Michigan schools to offer a 4-level dance program in our performing arts department. It is a dream job. Long hours but lots of fun. I teach ballet, jazz, modern, lyyrical, theatrical, and small amounts of tap and hip hop.

What did you do at MK instead of rides? All shows and parades?

My husband could use a padded room for Jayhawk BB. Unless we are way ahead, I can't enjoy the game with him because he makes me nervous yelling the the TV. My favorite game this tournament was the the NC game. My DH was at work...he is a sports anchor on an ABC station. He had to watch the game at work so I got to watch my way at home. My kids tell me I scared them I was so excited....jumping up and down celebrating the final four.

Really enjoying your trip report. Couldn't help but check it out when I saw reference to the Jayhawks. What an exciting year. So sad to see it end but what a run they had. My DH is a big NC fan so that was a fun game (for me) to watch.

So sorry to hear about your accident right before your trip. Love your positive attitude through it all.

Would love to try CSR but don't think I'll ever talk DH into staying onsite. The two times we have been together we have stayed offsite in a condo. He needs the extra space. Me ... I'd sleep on a bench at the MK if they'd let me. LOL

DD prefers to stay onsite so maybe if we get another mother/daughter trip that's what we will do.

Looking forward to the rest of your updates.

Rock Chalk! Thanks for joining in. I imagine that KU/NC game was a tough one in your house. So much history with Roy and KU.

Too bad your hubby will not stay at CSR. I imagine the extra room in a condo is nice but I just love the atmosphere at CSR. For a moderate it feels so luxurious. Definitely try for a mother/daughter trip.

Another Kansan checking in to say hi! Not a diehard jayhawk or basketball fan, but did watch their last two games, it was fun to have Kansas in the finals!

Good start to your TR.

wigdoutdismom-- my hubby would have had an aneurism if one of us shattered our iphone. ugh :scared1:

How can you live in Kansas and not be crazy about KU basketball? It is so much fun. My hubby and I joke about spending retirement time in Lawrence just to see KU games. We are kidding ourselves because they are always sold out...but some day we will see a game in Allen Fieldhouse.

Thanks for joining in.

Did I mention that both of our rides on Soarin were in the front row? What luck! Yay for not looking at anyone's hanging feet. :)

After the last Soarin ride we hit up Club Cool where I tricked my family into drinking the Beverly. Funny reactions. Did I already share this? I should check back but Lord knows if I try to I may lose this post. Ugh...the limitations of the IPad.

Anyway we ended up in World Showcase and my DD did her first Kim Possible Mission. It was a huge hit. She did United Kingdom then liked it so much that she also did a mission in Italy. My hubby stopped in Canada to see the film with Martin Short. My DS was content to hang in his stroller a bit and play angry birds. The WS was not crowded yet and it was so pleasant. I got my first Grey Goose slushie (yum) and we then walked to Via Napoli for lunch.

We had a fabulous lunch. It is our favorite place at DW right now.

After lunch we went to FW to ride Test Track with our fast passes. DD decided to browse Mouse Gear instead of ride but we hustled in line. Just as we got through the pre-show area and near the front ofbthe lines where we could actually see the cars....they shut down. Inclement weather was expected. We quick called DD and met her in the store and made the decision to make the mad dash to the bus stop to get back to CSR. The sky was darkening and as we hit the exit area a few raindrops began to fall...we could see the bus stop.

Would we make it?

Back tracking a bit...before heading to WS we also played in innovations, rode Living With the Land, and rode Nemo. We were really happy to get all of that and two rides of Soarin in before the big crowds.

My DD wanted to get her favorite drink, a Coke Slushie, at Club Cool but they were out of slushie syrup...a big bummer. We just told DD it gave us an excuse to go back on our second Epcot day. Then we went to WS and enjoyed lunch.

So, I left off as we were running like crazy people to the bus stop. We did NOT make it and ran as the rain started to pour. When we got to the bus stop we thought we were safe...WRONG. we were there with about 10 people at first. The wind was whipping and the rain was pouring down at a slant. There was a women in a scooter and I felt so badly for her because she was soaked and the water was collecting in her seat. I offered a poncho but it was too late...DD did get a ponch on but still was soaked. We stood there in the pouring rain waiting for over half an hour. I have to believe the rain was so hard that buses stopped for some time. Finally as the rain started to let up we could not take being soaked and we ran across and got a cab back to CSR.

The cab took us right to our building and soon we were warming up with hot baths and new clothes. The rain was light and we hoped it would clear up soon. I brought our soaked clothes to the dryer and the kids and DH relaxed in the room.

Okay, I'm back and caught up. Thanks for the welcome and the comments on the CSR thread. I'm glad you fell in love with it like we did (I have to admit I've missed not staying there our last two trips, and it looks like we will be elsewhere in September :sad1:).

Sorry to hear about your van right before the trip. But the good news is no one was hurt. I'm sure your student felt absolutely awful.

So far the trip sounds like a huge success (minus the crowds at the pool the first day) and the downpour.

I'll try to keep up now (I've got to get at least one update on my TR done before my husband I leave for Florida on Saturday...and no...no Disney World, it's a business trip).
